We were at the mercy of taxis and hired vehicles today. I sure do miss having our own private car. Steve can’t stand that 15-hour drive from Accra to Yendi but I don’t really mind riding in the car.Today, we hired Bismarck to shuffle for us from place to place. Bismarck is a guy that has been driving for us for years. He picks us up at the airport and takes us and all of our many bags of luggage to the hotel. If Bismarck is not around, he will find someone to driver us. He wasn’t around yesterday so he sent Emmanuel to pick us up at the airport and bring us to the hotel/apartment.

We wanted to go to go the bead market this morning, (I wanted to go to the bead market). The bead market is about two hours outside of Accra. It’s been a couple of years since I’ve been to the bead market; the bead market has its big market day on Thursdays and many times we are not in Ghana for a full Thursday, so we can’t go. Beads are my one weakness and I love to add to my collection. This morning, I found a strand of beads that even the vendor did not know what they were made of but I bought them anyway just because. We will consider this side trip my Valentine present!

On the way back from Koforidua, we stopped at a carving village at Aburi. It did not take us very long to walk through shops and see what the vendors had to sell. This morning, I was after elephants. I like to have a good supply on hand because we never know when we will need a nice gift to give someone.

We decided we wanted to have Indian food for supper, or should I say lupper, but we could not remember where the Indian restaurant was so we hired another taxi and had him take us to the area of Accra that caters to tourists. Steve used Google Maps to find an Indian restaurant. We weren’t even sure of the name of restaurant that we have been to before; we just decided that we would go to the first Indian restaurant we found. Surprise, surprise; it was the one that we were looking for. The food was delicious. It took us a long time to get back to the hotel because it was getting close to 5:00 and the traffic was terrible. Steve felt sorry for the taxi driver so he gave him some extra money because he had to sit in traffic for so long.

Our jet lag is catching up with us we plan to go to bed early tonight.Have a great day! Please keep us in your prayers as we travel.

Steve and Kandie Taylor
