I (Taylor) guess it’s my turn to write the Yendi notes again. I must admit, it hasn’t been as crazy of a time over here since the last time I wrote the notes. I knew I would miss quite a bit of things that I had back home, but I didn’t realize one of the things I’d miss was smooth, level, and paved roads.
Today was a pretty normal day, all things considered. However, earlier in the day, we were at the child center working. Skeeter, my monkey uncle, was sitting next to me on the bench I was sitting on. He had been a little on edge earlier in the day, so I decided to do the smart thing and let him be. But unfortunately, he did not want to do the same. I was sitting directly behind Zorash so she could hand me some cards so I could mark down how much product we give to each person. Well, Skeeter has a real issue with people handing things over to other people. He hates when Goosie hands something to us because he thinks we are stealing from her. Ok, fine. Sure, I can understand that because he is really protective of her. What I didn’t realize is that when he is near, he hates it when ANYONE hands something to ANYBODY. So, when Zorash handed me some cards, he started clucking at me before lunging at my arm. Luckily, he was at the end of his leash so the worst he could do was grab my arm. He did this TWICE. I was quite annoyed but I can’t get on to him so I simply scooted over so he couldn’t get me.
Then Parker decides to sit next to him and my little ole monkey uncle decided to rest his head on his leg, acting as if he wasn’t actively attempting to end my life just a few minutes earlier. Again, I was thoroughly annoyed. But the good news was that if he decided to go on a rampage again, he would get Parker instead of me. As the song goes, “Count your many blessings, name them one by one.”
We ate lunch before heading out to the village of Sobobito for VBS. It went well, on my end at least, as I was teaching the teens and adults, but VBS was cut a little short due to rain.
We are now back and eating supper as I write this. I’m unsure of what we have planned for tomorrow but I’m sure it will include lots more tomfoolery and monkey business. Pun intended. As always, we thank everyone for all the love, support, and prayers.
In His service,
Taylor, Parker, Charity, Kandie , Stephen, and Skeeter
