Today was packing day. It is very odd but we are constantly in a state of packing; either packing to come to Ghana or packing to leave Ghana. Of course from the time my feet step on Ghanaian soil I am “shopping”! I love to find a bargain and there is no way I would intentionally go home without all our bags full. I like to pack stuff as I buy it so there is not that last minute cramming stuff in a bag. We picked up several things while we were in Accra early this week and we made a cardboard box to hold the plaque of Jesus being removed from the cross that we bought when we got here in August.
This morning when we went for our walk we met our neighbor Mr. Oldman. Steve ordered 36 bicycle tires and 36 tubes to give the church leaders when they come for class at the end of the month. Mr. Oldman brought them out to the mission house this afternoon. Steve also got the invitations for the seminar next month printed and folded. He wants to send them to the congregations at the end of the month so they will have plenty of time to make plans to attend.
When we were at Mpeasum on Sunday the church leader told us his 7 year old daughter had something she wanted to show us. He said that the young people had been working really hard trying to learn the books of the Old Testament and his daughter had learned them all. After worship she stood in front of us and said all of the books. We could tell that she was nervous and a little bit scared but then who wouldn’t be when all eyes are on you. She said them in the Konkomba language but many of the names are the same as English. In the evenings during the seminar they give the young people a chance to say their memory work. We encouraged her father to bring her to the seminar so others could see how smart these young people are and what they are capable of learning.
Osman came to spray the trees outside the compound. We hope that this will keep the infestation from coming back. Next week he is going to begin spraying the mangos monthly as a prevention treatment. If the mangos die it won’t be from lack of trying. There are some new leaves coming out and a few blossoms so that is a good sign.
Thank you for your help.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
