We made it back to the hotel in Tamale this afternoon at 5:00. We had a good flight. We followed a storm all the way from Accra but we did not get any rain. It is still lightening so maybe we will get some rain tonight. The hotel owner said that it has been terribly hot the past 2 days; he thinks it is going to rain too.
Steve talked to Divine this afternoon and he has not had any success in getting his used motorcycle registered in his name. The problem is the man that sold it to him is not actually the owner; he is the son of the owner. The owner is an old man and can no longer ride the motorcycle. It appears that the old man might not be the owner either. He said he worked for a company and the company gave him the motorcycle to use. If that be the case the motorcycle is still the property of the company. It is sort of like if you work for someone and they provide you a company car and you change jobs you could not take the company car with you. Divine has never talked to the old man; he has just been working through his son. Divine is going to go to the customs office and see if anything can be done to get the motorcycle registered in his name.
Steve talked to Mr. Iddrisu this afternoon and he said that our neighbors were building a public outhouse on their side of the mission house’s cement wall. He said that it is not right up against the wall but about 6 feet away from the wall. He thought that we might do something about it because he knows it will be a smelly mess but Steve told him that it is their property and they can build whatever they want on their property. Luckily the wind usually blows across the mission property towards their property so maybe most of the smell will float toward them.
Zorash is trying to organize a “peace keeping rally” for Saturday. Her and a dozen of her friends are working together on the project. She said they are trying to raise awareness about the need for peace in Yendi especially with the plans to have the final funeral of the late king. Zorash and her group are visiting the government offices and non-government organizations collecting donations to pay for the rental of tents, chairs and a speaker system plus they will need water and cokes to serve the dignitaries and guest speakers that attend. The rally is supposed to be on Saturday.
We have eaten our supper and are ready to go to sleep. The air conditioner is working well in our hotel room but the TV does not work. Steve said he would much rather have air conditioning than a TV.
In His Service,
