Last night while we were at Bible study we found out that the men ran out of the wood treatment for the rafters.  If Timothy had told us we could have taken another container when we went to Bible study.  They had one full 5 gallon container and part of another one which should have been plenty but the full container had separated and they did not know to shake and remix it so they just used the part that came to the top and threw the rest away.  Timothy hired the men to help and it was their first time to paint.

As we were leaving the compound this morning to take the wood treatment to Kulkpeni Timothy called and said that they needed 4 veranda poles and metal straps.  They use the metal straps to hold the roof to the walls.  They punch holes in the wall and wrap the metal straps around the face plates, down through the holes, back up on the other side and then they nail both ends of the metal strap to the face plate; it works like a charm!

At noon we went to town and bought food and pure water for the carpenter and his helper.  Later in the afternoon Timothy called and said that the men were still hungry and that the food we bought them was not enough to satisfy them and they needed two more rafter boards.   Please!  We went back to the lumber yard for the boards; then back to the chop bar (outdoor restaurant) to get some more food.

The high temperature today was 116 degrees but the humidity was low so the heat index was only 116 degrees.  I say only because it could be a lot worse.  When you walk outside and the breeze hits you it feels like you are standing in front of a furnace.  Even the goats and sheep hunt for shade.

Steve waited until 4:30 to go back outside and mix up the cement to fix the defect in the poly tank platform where the cashew nut made the cement crack and pop up.

I talked to my brother Paul again today.  Last time I talked to him they were on the side of the road fixing some sort of exhaust leak.  Today they are doing fine; they had some baptisms which is always good news.  He said that they are staying in Wa longer than they had originally planned because he is having a metal cap made for the back of his pickup.

Take care and enjoy the rest of your day!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
