I sure do miss Jim Clark writing the Yendi Notes! I wonder if he could write them from the States? Ha!

We had a busy day at the Child Center; we were giving out clothes again today. Many of the mothers missed the last clothes give away because they only come back to the Center every 2 weeks unless their baby is getting formula. This morning we gave clothes to 91 children. We will run out of boy clothes tomorrow but we have tons of girl clothes. The mothers with boys will be offered girl clothes; most of them have older children or nieces that would love to have the clothes. The clothes will not go to waste.

Adamu came back from Tamale yesterday; the Yendi hospital sent her over there because they wanted her to have a scope of her throat because her mother thought that she was having a difficult time swallowing. She was in the hospital in Tamale in the nutritional ward for a couple weeks; she gained weight and is doing much better which means her mother was not feeding her as much as she should have been feeding her. This appears to be a mother problem, not a child problem. She said that the nurses in the nutritional department woke her up twice each night and made her wake-up Adamu and feed her. We asked her if she was going to continue the night feeding now that she was at home. She said that there would be no one to wake her up so she could not get up and feed her. We warned the mother that she would be right back in the same situation if she did not work hard to feed her regularly. The doctor in Tamale still wants to do the scope and another test on her head and neck but the father is not very involved in the child’s care and would not return her phone calls while she was in the hospital.

The baby with the hair lip is going to go to Tamale next week to have the cleft palate fixed. Sometimes they postpone the surgery, especially if the baby’s weight is too low. Hopefully all will go well with the surgery.

Donkey went to the doctor today. His back is still hurting him. He has been suffering with it for a long time. Today, they gave him Celebrex; so maybe that will help. I am not sure if it works on back problems. We figure that he has a bulging disc so we are not sure if Celebrex works on that. I always think that Celebrex is for arthritis. They gave him prednisone last time he went and that did not seem to make much of a difference.

It tried to rain last night but it didn’t happen. It sprinkled on us this morning when we went for our walk; the best part about the overcast day was that it was much cooler today which we thoroughly enjoyed!

Thank you for the love, prayers and support.

I was out of my jail cell all day today because Red and his helper were here working on my new habitat; it is huge! I may have to stop referring to it as a jail cell and start calling it my condo! It looks like I might be “Moving on up to a deluxe apartment in the sky!”

At first, I was on the back veranda and then I went to the Child Center and helped pass out clothes; after lunch I was in the big mango tree in the front yard. I enjoyed my freedom but I missed taking a nap with the parents. Mom has a quilt top spread out on the bed. She said there was no way that she was going to let me into our bedroom until she got it all sewn together. She had better hurry up or Dad will be sleeping outside in my jail cell with me tonight!

I am getting used to Red and his helper. His helper sat on the bench next to me this afternoon. At first, I tried to scare him off but he did not scare so easily. After I figured out that I could not intimidate him I decided to ignore him. I kept a close eye on him just in case he tried to touch me! Mostly he was just sat there and looked at me! That is much better than those that try to jump at me! He is supposed to be back tomorrow so we will see how he behaves then; I might have to bite him if he gets too close!

Don’t mess with Monkey-man!
