This morning around 7:30 Timothy Niligrini telephoned saying that he would not be able to go to the village of Nalongni today. He said that one of his cousins at Jagrido, Timothy’s family’s village, had died and he was required to go there. He was able to contact Kwabena, one of our night watchmen and a leader at Kulkpeni church, and he consented to accompany us. Timothy also asked us to pick up some of his family and drop them on the way.

After picking up Kwabena, we went a few hundred yards down the road to Timothy’s house. Timothy had planned to carry his wife Rita with him on the motorcycle but the family needed him to bring the casket so Rita rode with their oldest son Isaac on the bench in the bed of the pickup. These people carry everything on the back of a motorcycle; even a casket! Why did we have Rita sit in the back? Timothy has three small children that are rather wild and we didn’t want to chance having one of the kids fall out of the truck on those rough roads. We offered to take the casket instead of Rita, and have her ride with her husband, but Timothy didn’t know how long it would take for the final touches to be done on the casket.

As we passed through Jegrido we dropped off the family and drove on to Nalongni which is about 3 miles down the road. Upon our arrival we were met by Brother Benard and another younger church brother. It was decided to incorporate the time for bible class and preaching together which allows more time after services for questions and answers. Today, I taught a lesson concerning our bodies being the temple of God and how we should refrain from doing things that harm the body. I discussed the use of alcohol, smoking, fornication, and the use of moringa. The use of Moringa leaves is very popular. The leaves can be used in a tea, which doesn’t harm the body but some people use it as a snuff up the nose. The real problem is some unscrupulous vendors add chemicals like marijuana, tramadol (a pain killer), tobacco, and some even add cocaine. The people using these tainted Moringa mixtures become addicted without realizing it. At the end of the lesson, I encouraged everyone to keep our bodies pure and do our job of spreading the gospel.

After the question-and-answer period we walked outside the church building. We were met by a mother, holding her 9-month-old girl, and the baby’s grandmother. The mother was concerned about her baby not being able to hold up her head. Kandie showed the mother how to do some exercises to help the baby get more strength in her neck muscles. We encouraged the mother to come to the Child Centre and we would purchase a baby walker for the baby. We will see if she follows our advice. We then walked over to greet an old Church member whose name is Kumasi. He has been disabled for some years now due to a stroke. From there we walked over and greeted the chief and then back to the pickup. Another mother was sitting under the tree with her baby who asked us to look at her child. We could see an area on the baby’s shoulder that looked dark green. She said the mixture was some herbs that had been used to cover the boil on the shoulder. We referred her to a doctor so the child could give some antibiotics for the infection and I gave the mother some money to help with the medicine. She was very grateful.

The afternoon was spent recuperating from all of our work and traveling with the Clarks for the past 2 weeks. Skeeter was happy to have us back to himself but there were several times he got himself in trouble. I’m sure he will tell you about it tomorrow. HA!

Hope you all had a good Lord’s Day. May God bless!

In His service,
