We are back in Yendi! We left the hotel this morning earlier than we needed to because we needed to stop at the Forex and change money before we headed to the airport. Steve called Immanuel, the taxi driver that we hired by the hour to drive us from place to place but he was not in Accra; he had gone to Kumasi so we were on our own. We dragged our suitcases down the road to hail a taxi. We did not have to wait very long before one stopped for us. We hired him to take us to the Forex and then on to the hotel. Since the taxi driver was a stranger to us Steve did not want him to know he was changing money so he had him stop about a block away from the Forex. I stayed in the taxi with our stuff while Steve walked down to the Forex. You can’t be too careful. Then the taxi took us to the airport. We had an uneventful flight which is always a good thing!

When we passed through Tamale, we did a little shopping and bought some fresh fruits and vegetables. We stopped at Kentucky Fried Chicken and got something for lupper. There was no way that I wanted to cook tonight! KFC is not my favorite place to eat but if it means not cooking, I am all for it!

We arrived at the mission house about 5:30 this evening. Just as we were coming into Yendi we called Jim and Pam to see how they were doing. They were in Atlanta waiting on their flight to Huntsville. They said that they did not have any problems on the flight or getting back into the US. We are sure they are happy to be back on American soil! Other than being exhausted they are fine! Traveling is hard work! They worked hard while they were here with us and we appreciated the extra help! They will suffer from jetlag for the next few days; we don’t envy them that! By the time you get this email they should be safely back at home; they should sleep good tonight in their own beds!

Take care and have a great weekend!

The Monkeyshines

My parents are back home and my little world is once again back to normal! I was excited when I saw the van pull up to the gate this evening! As soon as Mom got out of the van, she started calling my name! What a wonderful sound! I chattered back to her! She did not even go in the house; she came straight to my jail cell and set me free! To say that I was happy to see her is an understatement! It was pure joy! And the best part of all was that she did not have any strangers with her this time! I don’t do well with strangers; they scare me! It was wonderful to have the parents all to myself! I went in the house with them and helped them unload all the fruits and vegetables that they bought in Tamale; you know most of them were for me! Mom quickly fixed me a bottle; it was the best bottle I have had in days! Then she started feeding me tidbits of all sorts of things. While they were shopping, they found yellow melons; they are sort of like a small honeydew melon; I love them but I have not had any since last year because they were out of season. I also had Kentucky Fried Chicken, papaya, raisins and the fuzzy seeds. Ms. Pam left some of her trail mix; it had peanuts, raisins and M&Ms in it. Dad likes the peanuts; Mom likes the M&Ms and I like the raisins. I actually like the M&Ms too but Mom read somewhere that chocolate is not good for monkeys and that it can make us sick or die. I really doubt that is correct because Ghana is the world’s second largest producer of Cocoa and monkeys damage the Cocoa crops by destroying the fruit. Maybe raw Cocoa pods and seeds are not the same as chocolate candy. I kept jumping on Mom’s shoulder and smelling of her mouth because I knew she was holding out on me and she was not eating raisins like I was! Seems like I was getting cheated!

Please pass the M&Ms!

Love, Skeeter
