My brother Rick sent us an email to let us know that one of the men who work with him has a daughter that is presently in Ghana working with the Peace Corp. Isn’t it a small world. We corresponded with her via email and found out that she is living in a village about 6 or 7 hours away from Yendi. Steve gave her his phone numbers in case she needed anything.
The mason finished the wall this afternoon. It looks really good except that it is a bit crooked. We are not going to worry about it being crooked; we are just proud to have the wall fixed. He is going to come again tomorrow and fix the roof on the well house. The roof is a flat roof and over time it is beginning to leak. The reason the roof was made flat is so that men could stand on the roof to pull the pump out of the bore hole in case it needed to be worked on. There is also a 3ft X 3ft opening in the roof. It is actually a very cleaver design. The mason is going to put another layer of cement on it. We do not use the well because the water does not reclaim fast enough to supply the whole compound but one day if we needed to use it for a something like a small scale irrigation project or watering livestock we might use it again.
Divine, the evangelist, stopped by for a visit today. He brought a couple ladies to the bank to pick up the money they were owed for buying shea nuts. Some company is paying the women in this area to gather shea nuts for them to turn into shea butter and export. The women in this area have very little means of making money and a lot of them are illiterate. We are happy that they have found a business they can do. Divine went to the bank with them to make sure everything is done correctly.
Mr. Oldman called to let Steve know that the old man he took to the hospital a few days ago passed away. He said that the old man’s wife wanted him to call and let Steve know and to thank him for his kindness in taking him to the hospital late in the night.
Zorash has decided that she wants to try to make some home-made soap with Moringa leaves. Everyone here in Ghana is crazy about Moringa at the moment. It is all the rage. They claim it cures everything from headaches to reducing belly fat to increasing the appetite to hemorrhoids. No single medicine can do all that! Zorash said she thinks it would be good for the completion, pimples and scars.
Thank you for the love, prayers and support.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
