Another hot day! The heat index this afternoon was 133 degrees. Steve said, “You know it is hot when a Ghanaian says it is HOT!”
As soon as Steve and I got up this morning we started the fires for roasting the corn and soy beans for the weaning mix. We got all the grain roasted and we thought we were going to get it ground this afternoon. Zorash, the receptionist, was supposed to call us after 3:00 when it got a little cooler but she never called. As soon as she gets here in the morning we will go to the grinding mill and have it ground. We cannot grind at her grinding mill because she could not pay the electric bill on her grinding mill and she had to shut down the work.
We were pleasantly surprised this morning when the third mother with a hair lip baby showed up at the Child Center with her husband. They were both prepared to travel to Tamale today where they will meet the bus in the morning and then travel on to Ho where the surgery will take place.
The city water that comes to Zorash’s area also comes to the mission house. Zorash told us yesterday that the city water department said that the water in the Daka River is too low to pump and that we would not get any more city water until the Daka fills back up which might take some time. We still had some water in the reservoir from the rain we got a couple weeks ago so we pumped all we could into the lower poly tank. If we are careful with our water usage it should last for about 6 weeks. Surely we will get more rain soon.
Meanwhile since there is no rain the guys are getting lots of the water proofing paint put on the buildings. They will run out of paint tomorrow. Maybe we can find some in Tamale next time we go.
Steve went to visit the Immigrations and the hospital this afternoon. He tried to take them some gifts last week but they were not around. He just likes them to know we are thinking about them.
Zorash just called and she is ready for us to go to the grinding mill. After we finish grinding it will be time to go to evening Bible study. So I will close for now. Take care and have a great day!
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
