Our morning started with my phone ringing just a few minutes before the alarm went off. It was Zorash saying they had called her to come to a meeting at the hospital and she wouldn’t be coming to work today. I’m just glad she called so we would be prepared at the child center.
Kandie and I washed the shelled corn and soy beans that will be used to make the weaning mix next week. The soy beans have handfuls of little red stones that have to be picked out before we grind. While we were working on the grain Iddrisu came to work as well as Timothy’s brother Simeon who came to start work on the Neem tree stump.
Shortly after we opened the center we found out Meri wasn’t coming to work again. Her son Aliu had been discharged from the hospital but her rival (first wife of her husband) was having surgery at the hospital and she needed to be there to help her. I never will be able to tolerate the idea of a man having two or more wives.
A man brought in an approximately 8 year old boy for me to examine this morning. The boy has a swollen tongue that makes his right facial cheek stick way out like he has a big wad of bubble gum. I told the man they should be seen at Tamale Teaching Hospital as soon as they can. The man said the boy didn’t have health insurance so I gave him the money and told him to go register the boy today. I hope they will be able to help the little guy.
After lunch a man from a village near Kpamang, where Brother Divine lives came by the compound. He wants the Church brought to his village. He and some others in his village have been members of a denomination but they want the Church to be established. I have given the man several tracts in the past to take back to the village to read to the interested people. Brother Divine was in town for a workshop so he came on his lunch break allowing both of us talk with the man. We plan to visit the people as soon as we have opportunity to teach them. We will plant the seed and see how it grows.
Later in the afternoon I went to town to buy the one inch PVC pipe that will connect the cistern pump down to the lower polytank that will help supplement the water used for washing during the rainy season. I also checked on the progress of the pulpits. While I was out I ran down another cold store where I bought a box of frozen chicken for us to eat. The brand name is “Koch” from the United States.
Red brought the metal house he made that will cover the cistern pump from the elements. I met Red and Jack on the motor king heading for the welding shop as I was going back to the house from town.
The three of us spent the last hour and a half of the afternoon trying to snake a 1 inch pipe under the sidewalk near the poly tanks. We were not successful but there is tomorrow, Lord willing.
That is it for the day so it is time to close. Have a good day!
In His service,
Stephen & Kandie, Jack
