We have been waiting for Red to come to the mission house all day.  We talked to him this morning about making the doors and windows for the sleeping quarters for Kulkpeni.   He said he was on his way.  He will probably show up when it is time for us to eat our supper.

We spent the morning working on a new series of lessons “Be Ready to Give an Answer!”  Kulkpeni’s Wednesday night Bible class asked us to share scriptures with them to answer the questions that their friends and family ask when they are discussing the Bible.  They noticed that we have a “cheater” paper in our Bibles that have the scriptures written in categories so we can give a scriptural answer to the questions.  The class wanted us to make a copy of the scriptures for them but we decided that it would be better to actually go through the questions and scriptures so the students can get a clear grasp of what the scriptures are saying.  We bought tablets and pens for the students so they will be able to enter the scriptures where they want them.  Most of the students can read and write.  I think that Tichak and Abinata are the only ones that do not read.

This afternoon Steve got the wiring fixed on the lights that the mason took off the wall when he was blocking up the doors at the back of the storeroom.  Mr. Iddrisu got the first coat of paint put on the wall this morning.

This afternoon while I was talking to Mr. Iddrisu he said that there have been too many mysterious deaths in Yendi.  He said that a young man and his father rode their motorcycle to the edge of Yendi so that they could go into the bush to poop and the older man came out first and lay down across the motorcycle and died.  Another man went to his farm with his wives to work; when they finished the wives took the lead and went home ahead of the man.  The man did not come home and they found him dead in his farm.  Mr. Iddrisu and Donkey, like most of the people here, do not believe that people just die naturally.  They fear that someone has put a curse on the people who die.  I could tell that Mr. Iddrisu was worried about these strange deaths.

Timothy Niligrini called and said that this was the 3rd day in a row that the masons had not come to make blocks.  He said that it appears that the men have abandoned the work.  Timothy is supposed to count the blocks that have already been made to see if there are enough for the building.  It is annoying that the men have abandoned the work because we are renting 2 water containers by the day!  If there are enough blocks maybe Dawda can start digging the foundation on Monday.

Thank you for the love, prayers and support.

Skeeter’s Monkey Business

I hate to complain but my parents are weird!  Today they decided that I needed to spend time outside with Mr. Iddrisu and Donkey so that I would get used to them so there would be someone to feed me when they are gone.  Please!  I tolerate Mr. Iddrisu pretty well; I have even climbed up on his shoulder before but today he was wearing the ugliest hat!  It was a white skull cap; it made him look like he had a head full of white hair.  I just could not take it so I started screaming at the top of my lungs!

Mom sat outside with me and Mr. Iddrisu for almost an hour.  After he took off the hat I was able to sit on his foot; ever so often I would nip his toes just to see if I could make him jump!  While we were outside I spied Donkey leaning back in the lazy chair sleeping.  I could not help but going over to investigate.  I climbed up on the back of the chair; I was fine until he woke up and tried to talk to me then I became very frightened!

There is nothing I love more than a black plastic bag.  The wind blew one across the patio and I was in hot pursuit!  As soon as I caught it I pounced on it.

I have learned to pick up things in my mouth and take them where I want to go.  I can climb up on the bed or a table with something in my mouth.  Today when we got ready to go inside I carried a stick in with me.  I looked like a dog!

Enjoy today!
