Meri was back at work this morning; her rival had a little girl. I forgot to give Meri baby clothes before she left work. I will try and remember to send them with her tomorrow. I will ask Zorash if I should wait and send them for the naming ceremony.
Steve had Donkey go to the back of the property and spray the area where the wall fell down. The weeds are so tall and hopefully we will be able to get started putting the wall back up this week. We called Red this morning to see if he could get Dauda, the mason, to give us a price for the wall repair. Dauda says that he wants the job but he has never committed to a price yet and without a price we do not want to start the job; that is a good way to end up paying more than the job is worth. Red called Dauda and he was supposed to stop by this afternoon but he never came. Hopefully, he will not wake us up in the morning before he goes to work!
The sink in the master bathroom has not been draining well for years but recently it has almost stopped draining. It drains into a tiny septic tank that has no outlet. About every 2 years Steve has to dip the water out of the septic tank. We don’t know who was the engineer on that job but that is the craziest thing we have ever seen! Fortunately, the only water that goes into the tiny septic tank is the grey water from the sink. We would bust a hole in the side of the septic tank so the water could soak away into the ground but it is very close to the reservoir and we would hate to contaminate the reservoir water. I said all that to say that a few weeks ago Steve emptied it and the sink is still not draining. The Europeans have a very strange way of plumbing! Instead of a normal “P” trap under the sink they have a trap that has a container attached to it that catches all sorts of hair and debris that flow out of the drain. I think they use this method in case you drop a ring or something valuable down the drain; it will fall to the bottom of the container and will be easier to retrieve. Whatever the case, I decided that I had to open the trap and see why the water was not draining out. It was an awful mess; the trap has never been opened for 25 years! Yicks! I will leave it to your imagination as to what I found in the drain and pipes; the smell was very unpleasant! Steve ended up going to town and buying a new trap because even after it was cleaned it still leaked. We had success! The drain is running freely again!
This afternoon Steve went out to Kulkpeni to visit with the village elders and to ask permission to have the seminar in their village again this year. Our biggest problem is that the well pump is not working! The villagers like to use the well water but they refuse to contribute to help keep the pump working. It has not been working since December of last year. They are drinking river water which is not good for their health. They are going to see if they can find a new pump for the well; it will be expensive but we cannot invite 500+ people to come to a seminar and not have drinking water!
Thank you for all you do for us and for the work in Ghana; we really appreciate your help!

When my sister Charity came for a visit, she brought me unbreakable mirrors! I love looking at myself! I am a very handsome guy! I spent over an hour this afternoon looking in the mirror. I am not really looking at myself; I am looking through the mirror at the world behind me! If I held the mirror just right, I could see Dad! That was creepy; 2 Dads! When I look in the mirror and I see things I think that I can reach behind the mirror and grab them but it never works out quite like I think it will! I have never yet been able to pick up things I see in the mirror!
Mom made me a milkshake! Have you ever had a banana milkshake? Well, let me tell you, it was delightful! She put a little fruit juice in the blender and added the over ripe bananas and blended them up! Then she added powder milk and blended it again! It was just the right consistency for me to drink it out of my baby bottle! Yum! She made 2 cups of the milkshake mixture so I will have enough for tomorrow too! You know that I flatly refuse to eat over ripe bananas! But an over ripe banana in a milkshake is mighty fine!
I think we could put Dairy Queen out of business with these milkshakes!
Love, Skeeter
