I forgot to mention in yesterday’s Notes the early morning temperature was 71oF. It was quite cool for a change. Today’s high temperature was 113oF. If the past foretells the future our temperatures will be hotter in a couple of weeks. It is usually real hot around Ghana’s Independence Day on 6th March.

We stayed busy in the Child Center this morning. Everyone was back to work. We had a couple of children that had low weight this morning so we will watch them in the coming weeks to see how they progress.  Nazo stayed busy raking up leaves between the house and the child center. Most of the leaves are from the cashew trees.

At mid morning Dawda, the mason dropped by to ask about the concrete platform we need built to set the new water tank on. We are planning for it to be installed in the near future; at the least before the rains begin. The area is a 10 ft x 10 ft square.  Dawda figured how much cement he needed as well as the number of concrete block to do the job. I will have to purchase a couple of 55 gallon barrels of fine sand for him to plaster (stucco) the sides of the block so they will be smooth and not take an inch of your skin off when you accidently rub up against it.

This afternoon was spent getting the stuff packed that I will need for the trip to Accra.  I also cleaned up some of my junk that I have been neglecting to do around the house.  Shortly after Iddrisu finished work this afternoon Bro. Divine showed up with some cedis for me to keep for the dam project his people are working on.  If you have ever seen how one of these mud ball plastered houses are constructed you will understand why people are concerned about losing their money to thievery.  It is hard to secure the contents in these houses.  That is why every blue moon we will agree to hold money for church members wanting to do some project and needing a safe place to keep it.

After I fixed my supper I spent most of my time cleaning up the kitchen and sweeping our bedroom/office floor.  Bro. Divine called around 7pm saying he had a flat tire on his bicycle on his way back home.  He was close by at the village of Gundogu which is a mile north of the compound.  He was afraid he couldn’t find a bicycle tube vendor open tonight which led me to think he was indirectly asking if I might be able to help him. I hadn’t bought any bike tubes this trip so I told him I would check out in the shed.  He was in luck. I had one tube left. I called Divine back and told him I had one and he said he was on his way to get it. I gave the tube to Tichak, the night watchman and told him to give to Divine when he came to the compound so he could get back home before 10 or 11 pm tonight. Thanks go out to all of you who give us money so we can purchase items like tires and tubes to have on hand to help people like Bro. Divine.

It’s time for me to close. Let me wish you a good day! Keep us in your prayers!!

In His service,

Stephen Taylor
