This morning I awoke before the alarm on my phone went off. The clock said it was 5:15 am. I had most items packed in the van except the laptop computer and its accessories so I didn’t have a lot to do before I left the house to pick up Red at 6:30.
The trip to Kumasi really only had one eventful item that comes to mind. The big bridge that spans the Black Volta River is having repair work done on it for the next 20 days. The flow of traffic going south had a large string of traffic waiting to pay the usual toll and cross the bridge .The wait took us almost 30 minutes to go one mile. After that it was smooth sailing except for the wild drivers that are on the roads. We saw several overturned cargo trucks off into the deep ditches.
We got into Kumasi around 2:30. Red and I stopped in at Samuel and Comfort Obeng house to say “hi”. They are old family friends and Brother Samuel was very instrumental in evangelizing the Ashanti Region where Kumasi is the District Capital.
From there we drove over to the hotel where we are spending the night. The electricity was off when we arrived and the generator wasn’t working but the manager assured me they would get it working. I laid down on my bed and took a hot nap. It was an hour before the electricity came back on its own but they did finally get the generator repaired and going again. When I went out to the van around 7pm I found it raining. I never heard it raining but it is a welcome sight.
In closing please keep Kandie in your prayers tomorrow as she is leaving for Ghana from Huntsville Airport. She will meet up with her brother Paul at JFK Airport for the transatlantic flight to Accra. Red and I plan to leave at 6am (12am CST) for Accra. I need to do some business and shopping tomorrow so we can pick Kandie and Paul up at the airport Friday morning and head north. Lord willing, all the luggage will arrive so we don’t have to wait another day to collect the rest of it.
Thanks again for all you do for the work. Have a good day!
In His service,
Stephen Taylor
