It is hard to believe it is Sunday again.  Today we traveled east of Yendi to visit the congregation at Sakpei. This village is cut off by flood waters during the height of the rainy season and the road that turns toward the village near the town of Gnai has been messed up by last year flooding.   Timothy mentioned to me that there is another road leading to Sakpei that is supposed to be smoother so I decided to try it. It took longer than we expected but the bush road was much better than the main road. When we arrived they had already started bible class.

I was invited to preach so I taught a lesson on Church autonomy/organization. Most of us who are members of the Church of Christ understand how each congregation is separate but all congregations are still a brotherhood.  There is a lot of misunderstanding here in the country concerning the subject of autonomy thus my reason for the lesson today.  Timothy did a great job interpreting for me.  We also had another church member from Kulkpeni accompanying us to Sakpei this morning.  His name is Daniel Kwabena.   Questions and answers after services went very well.  It has been some time since we were at the congregation so we got a group picture of the church members outside the church building to give them when we return back to Ghana.

As we were walking over to the chief’s house Kandie and I saw some strange looking pods on the ground under a tree.  The brothers told us they use the seeds from the pods to use in their games.   The seeds have an oval shape and are a very shiny black.  As Kandie and I were picking some of the seeds I had to look closer to be sure I wasn’t picking up sheep or goat manure that looks a lot like the seeds.   Don’t worry, I chose wisely without an event!  Kandie wanted some of the seeds to make a necklace. We left kola for the chief because he wasn’t around when we got to his house.

The congregation thanked us for coming and presented some yams to us as a gift.  When we got back to the house we gave Timothy and Kwabena the yams.

After Kandie and I rested this afternoon we worked on the receipts for the month. It was another hot day today. The heat index was at 125 degrees.

At the very end of the bible study tonight at Kulkpeni some big winds started blowing and the electricity went off.  It was still off when we got back to the compound. I started the generator so I could have power to write the Notes.  The power has since come back on.

That wraps up the day for us. Hope you are having a good Lord’s Day.  Thanks for your continued support.

In His service,

Stephen and Kandie Taylor
