We got up early this morning so we could go up to Aburi. Aburi is the carvers’ village that is outside of Accra up in the mountains on the way to Koforidua (bead land). We hired Bismark to take us there. I did not want to waste the extra day sitting in the hotel room. We left early so that we could beat the traffic. It takes a couple hours to get to Aburi but it took longer to get back to Accra because there was more traffic coming into Accra than going out. The rain caused many of the vendors not to open their shops. That did not keep us from shopping anyway. We were back at the hotel before noon.
We went to the Lebanese restaurant for lunch and as usual we ate far too much but it was delicious! We will eat leftovers for supper tonight.
We talked to my brother Paul a couple times today. The last time we talked to him he was boarded on the airplane in Columbus, Ohio headed to JFK. Steve checked Flight Aware and saw that his plane had taken off. He has a short layover in New York and then an overnight flight to Ghana. If all goes as planned, he will be arriving in Accra at 7:00 in the morning. We have hired a taxi driver to pick us up at the hotel and take us and our suitcases to the airport in the morning. Once we meet Paul, we will make the short trek over to the domestic airport and hang out there until the plane flies to Tamale. Anyway, that is the way the plans are for now.

P.S. We talked with Paul and he arrived safely at JFK Airport in New York. The Delta flight to Accra has been delayed 70 minutes so if the plane leaves at that time he will still have plenty of time for us to make our flight to Tamale tomorrow at 12:30pm Ghana time. Please keep us in your prayers!
