Before we left this morning to visit the congregation at Nakpaachee Kandie and I made a short run to Aminu’s building supply shop that is close to the mission house. We had forgotten to purchase a couple of 4’x8’sheets of 1/4 inch plywood for the carpenters to use today. Since we would be gone this morning we wanted to make sure the carpenters had all their supplies.
Timothy Niligrini arrived a few minutes after 9 am. Nakpaachee is located on the road to Bimbilla south of Yendi. This was the first time we had met with the congregation since they had put up their new church building. I made sure I remembered to load a new bench in the pickup after coming from Aminu’s shop since I am a bit forgetful. I figured the Church could use a new bench and I was right. On the right hand side of the building when facing the congregation there was a short makeshift bench made out of bush wood for the young child to sit on. They had driven forked tree limbs down into the gravel floor that made a “Y” to lay the round bush wood on to keep it in place. Necessity is the mother of inventions and it worked in this case.
Timothy interpreted for me as I taught a lesson from 1 Timothy 6:1-9 dealing with the idea of being contented with what we have. The brethren really appreciated the lesson. This is a land where there is usually no middle class; you are either rich or poor. We were happy there were two women requesting baptism after services so before going to greet the chief we drove 3-4 miles to the back water of the Daka River to baptize the ladies. One lady’s husband was already a member of the Church so he was happy she decided to be baptized. Timothy said the other lady ,who was a widow , was originally from Kulkpeni but had marriage and was living in Nakpaachee.
On our way back to the village we stopped by the chief’s house and greeted him. All of these chiefs we greet remember us because we show them due respect. Yea, they like the money we give but most of all they enjoy the respect they receive.
We arrived back at the house safe and sound. After sending Timothy off for his house we ate and then soon after we began the moving of stuff from the main house to the apartment in preparation for the carpenters to start putting up the ceiling on our side in the morning. The ceiling they are putting up looks really nice and they had two bedrooms done when we arrived around 12:30pm. By 4:30 they had finished the hallway, kitchen, and two bathrooms. It is time for bible study so I will close.
We hope you have a good Lord’s Day and may God bless!
In His service,
Stephen and Kandie Taylor
