Nyangbaln is a small congregation that we work with. We were invited to worship with them today. This village is located north of Kpamang about four miles. It takes about 45 minutes to drive there. The heat has begun radiating off of everything again which didn’t help us today because the village has very few large trees to shade them. The high temperature for today at the compound was 115oF.
The congregation has a zanna (grass) mat structure they meet in and use for a village school house. Today we sat under a partially leafed out tree for services. There were thirty-seven children present this morning. Before I preached I taught the account of how Moses was hidden in a basket in the water which always catches the ears of younger kids. We don’t get to visit this congregation except during the dry season because they are cut off by flooding during the rainy season. Some of these villages have men that have “canoes” (wooden boats) they use to shuttle people and things across these fast moving flood waters. These canoes are manpowered. They will even carry your motorcycle across the water with you. Occasionally, these boats capsize and there are casualties.
After services we got all the people to pose for a group photo. We will bring them back an 8×10 copy when we come back from the states later this year. From there we walked over to the chief’s house to give him kola and greet him. We were also presented with a young hen as a gift of appreciation for our coming. I told Timothy the hen would make a nice addition to his own chickens. He said “I think so” with a smile.
We have been trying to call Brother Divine but we have been unsuccessful so we back tracked on the road to Kpamang after we left Nyangbaln to try to talk with him. We had to go around Kpamang on another road because the short cut road was impassible. The church members said we just missed them on their way to Wadiig.
Before we went out to evening bible study at Kulkpeni we loaded the equipment the masons will need in the pickup and stopped and bought some bags of cement. The masons plan to start the work on Tuesday. They will be plastering the inside and outside of the new building.
Kandie’s brother Paul called to say that he had arrived in Accra this afternoon. He is to fly back home tomorrow.
We hope all of you had a great Lord’s Day and may God bless!
In His service,
Stephen and Kandie Taylor
