It has been trying to rain but all we have gotten is a dust storm.  We closed the doors and windows trying to keep the dust out.  We could see it coming when we entered the yard after our trip to town.  We dashed in the house before the heaviest dust got to us.  My hair is as stiff as it would have been if I had sprayed it with hairspray.  I know that the dust storms we have here is nothing like the dust storms they used to have in Texas and Kansas.  I cannot imagine how awful that had to have been!

My brother Paul left for the states this morning.  Steve talked to Red, the driver who is driving Paul’s truck back to Yendi, a little while ago.  The phone connection was not very good but Red said that he was doing fine and still had quite a ways to go before he gets to Yendi.  He plans to drive on into Yendi this evening.

We went to town to get a load of cement for the building project at Kulkpeni.  The mason said they needed an additional wheel barrel so Steve rented one from the same guys he bought the cement from.  The masons are going to start plastering early tomorrow morning.

We spent part of the day sorting stuff in the storage room.  We came across several watches that were not working.  While we were in town we took them to the guy that sells watches and batteries.  He was able to get 3 of the watches working.  Now how long they will keep working is anyone’s guess.  Someone will be happy just to have a watch.

A new mother came to the Center this morning with a baby that was underweight.  The mother said that she thought the problem was that she had no breast milk.  That was obviously not the problem.  We watched the baby nurse and then checked her to see if she was tongue tied and sure enough she was.  Steve referred her to Yendi hospital.  Hopefully the doctor will be able to solve the problem.  The child is already 5 months old and the mother can start introducing new foods next month.

Meri came back to work this morning.  Nazia was feeling a little better but she was still very whinny and clingy.  She did not want Meri out of her sight.  Part of that might be because she was in the hospital.  The hospital is a scary place especially for little people.

Thank you for all you do for us and for the work.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
