Red arrived safely in Yendi late in the night last night. We were worried about him passing through Bimbila. Bimbila has had a disturbance between the ruling families and the military has imposed a curfew on the town. The military are diligently patrolling the streets. We knew that Red was going to be passing through after the curfew and we were afraid he would have to spend the night in Bimbila or worse; he could have been arrested for breaking the curfew. Red has a friend that works in Bimbila that was able to help him since he was only passing through.
We were seriously short-handed in the Child Center this morning. Zorash, the receptionist, is the volunteer/coordinator for her area and she had to do something this morning with the eye examine doctors. Meri was at work today but we have visitors from Kumasi that are coming on Thursday to teach at the monthly evangelists classes and we needed her to help Amama get the guest round house cleaned. The guest house has not been cleaned since the Keimigs were here. There was lots of dust and lizard poop. The lizards roam freely through the house. We actually like the geckos; they eat lots of bugs. The house looked very nice when they finished. We got the sheets washed this afternoon.
Before we could open the Child Center this morning we had to make a run out to Kulkpeni and take the mason’s 12 bags of cement. We were surprised to see 6 men working instead of the 3 we contracted for. They assured us there would be no increase in the cost of the project; all we had to do was give the men their food money. With that many men working we hope that the job will be finished early.
Nazo and Mr. Iddrisu have already put on 10 gallons of the water proofing. We are very happy with the way it is going on. We will buy more when we go to Tamale on Thursday to pick up the guests. We want to try and get as much painted before the rain starts. It is not supposed to be applied when it is rainy and wet. That is not our problem at the moment. The high temperature today was 119 degrees with a heat index of 132 degrees. Everyone was complaining about how hot it was.
Thank you for the love, prayers and support. Without your help we could not do the work.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
