Red and his helper came this morning with the poles for the monkey enclosure. This time he did not bring the poles on a motorcycle; he hired a motor king to bring them all at one time. Well, I guess I should say we hired a motor king. Red and his helper mixed the cement while Steve held the levels to make sure they were straight. We only had to cut out one small branch to get them set. Red plans to come back tomorrow and start putting the braces between the poles. Red welded hooks up and down the poles so it would make it easier to hang the chain link fencing. We thought that was a very clever idea!
When Donkey came to work this morning, he said that he needed to take his wife, Amina, to the clinic because she was dizzy and could not walk; she was in so much pain from her back. A few minutes later he came back and said that the clinic told them to go to Yendi Hospital because they are in the midst of remodeling and that she needed to be admitted. Since they were remodeling, they had no beds to put her in. Donkey brought her to the mission house; he left her sitting outside the gate because she could not walk. Donkey asked Steve to take her to the hospital in the truck. Of course, Steve did not mind taking her. They put Donkey’s bicycle in the back of the truck so he would be able to get back home. When they got to the hospital Donkey asked Steve for money to pay the doctor and to buy medicine. Steve was only back at the house a few minutes when Donkey called to ask for more money. The drugs that he had to buy used all the money Steve had given him. When Donkey left her at the hospital, she was getting IV fluids and some sort of medicine. Hopefully, she will make a speedy recovery.
Amama did one last bit of cleaning in the apartment to make sure it was ready for Jim and Pam when they arrive on Saturday. It is a good thing that only 2 of them are coming because we are using one of the bedrooms as storage for the Bibles we bought last year.
We just shut the door on that room.
Steve ordered another load of pure water. The price of the water has gone up 1 Cedi per bag. Each bag has 30 -250ml single serving bags in it. The water sellers wanted to raise the price 4 Cedi per bag which would have made it very difficult for the average Ghanaian to afford. The bags normally cost 6 Cedis a bag; if they had raised it by 4 Cedis a bag the cost per bag would have been 10 Cedis per bag. Fortunately, the government stepped in and said that they were not to raise the price at all. Well, that did not happen but it limited the price rise to 1 Cedis per bag. That is reasonable.
Take care and have a good day!

I am a nervous wreck! I need to take ½ a nerve pill! I had such a trying day today! Those men came back this morning with more long poles. I do not understand exactly what they are doing but at least they covered up the holes that have been worrying me for the past 3 days! But they made matters worse; the holes are gone but those poles are everywhere! I was tied under the big mango tree most of the morning; I was ok watching the men from afar but then the neighbors decided that they needed to hire a big water tanker to fill their overhead poly tank! Well, me and big trucks just don’t agree! They are so noisy. Not only was the big tanker sitting across the road but they pulled out a generator to use to pump the water out of the tanker up into the poly tank! That generator made more noise than the tanker! I had no place to hide! I could not get away from the noise! I was in distress! I was lunging to the end of my leash! Mom saw my distress and came to my rescue! When I finally got into her arms I was chattering and chattering in complaint of the awful situation! It is a good thing that mom does not understand “Monkey” or I would have been in trouble! She moved me to my play area in the backyard! That was better but then I could not see her and I could not be happy about that! Let me tell you I was excited when Red and his helper left the yard. I heard him say that he was going to come back tomorrow! Oh! Joy!
Someone break out the Valium!
Love, Skeeter
