We are in Accra awaiting the arrival of our friends, Jim and Pam Clark. Steve is keeping track of their progress on “Flight Aware”. He said that they just landed at JFK Airport. They have been sending us updates on the cell phone too. Isn’t technology wonderful? Gone, are the days when you had to wait for a telegram to let you know when your friend/loved one had arrived at their destination! Hopefully, before we go to bed Jim and Pam will be on the plane from JFK to Accra, their last flight. They are supposed to arrive in Ghana around 7:00 in the morning, Ghana time. Please keep them in your prayers as they travel.
We left the mission house this morning at 7:00. Zorash needed to go Tamale so she rode with us from Yendi to Tamale. She was happy that she was able to save on her bus fare. Riding in an air-conditioned private car is definitely nicer than riding on an overcrowded bus with no air conditioning. We visited all the way to Tamale.
Divine called this morning and told us that the well in Kpamang needed a chain. We told him that we would help the village repair the well. We were able to send him the money that the village needed to buy the chain. Steve sent it through the phone system’s mobile money. The mobile money has been a blessing to the work. When he received the money, he called to say thank you; he said that he told the chief about the gift and the chief in turn sent his thanks too.
We saw Donkey before we left the mission house this morning. He said that his wife was not able to get out of the hospital yesterday. He said that he thinks they will release her today. He said that yesterday afternoon he had to buy more medicine for her. He still does not know what the doctor thinks is wrong with her or what medicine they are giving her. The medical system here is very strange.
Red also called us this morning; he said that he was at the mission house ready to work on the monkey house. He said that he thought that we were going to Tamale tomorrow instead of today. We do not want him working when we are not there so he will have to come back on Sunday afternoon or Monday to continue.
Hope you have a good weekend!
All prayers are appreciated!
In HIS Service,
Steve, Kandie and Skeeter
The Monkeyshines
You know our moms always say, “IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING GOOD TO SAY DON’T SAY ANYTHING!” Well, I have nothing good to say about my day today! It started out poorly and has gone downhill ever since! The only highlight of my day was that at 6:30 this morning Dad brought a couple of big mangos to my jail cell and gave them to me through the door! Then he loaded Mom in the blue van and they disappeared. I was left in the care of Donkey today! It is Friday so he has to take a long time to do his Friday prayers because he is a Muslim and then he had to go to town to the hospital to visit his wife so he was not around much today! I am not going to get my afternoon bottle nor my 8:00 p.m. bottle because Mom is not here to feed me! I will have to go to bed hungry tonight! Fruit is just not that filling!
Tomorrow will not be much better because the parents will not be home until late afternoon!
No one loves me, everyone hates me, guess I’ll go eat worms! Long slippery, slimy ones, big fat juicy ones and itsy- bitsy, fuzzy, wuzzy worms.
Love, Skeeter
