Several mothers came to the Center this morning because they came yesterday and Donkey told them that they should come back today! What in the world was he thinking? The Center is not open on Friday and has never been open on Friday. Zorash had to come to take care of the babies because we cannot understand what they are saying.
The tractor came and plowed the back field this morning. We pay to have the field plowed so Donkey and Mr. Iddrisu can plant something; they are pretty poor farmers because they do not like to weed and they do not have the money to pay for weedicide(herbicide) so their fields are always bushy! It is a wonder they even get anything off of them. Donkey was supposed to have the day off today because he missed his day off yesterday but he spent most of the morning and part of the afternoon in the back field making sure that the tractor only plowed where we wanted him to plow. In the past the tractor has plowed up the road! Imagine that!
A couple of the men from Napachee stopped by this morning; they needed to buy communion juice and a Konkomba Bible. Steve subsidizes both. They came while Steve was in town. Steve had gone to town to pay the withholding tax on the hotel that we stayed at while Pam and Jim were visiting us. He also bought more electric units for the Child Center. Both the Child Center and the mission house have pre-paid meters. If you run out of units you are just out of luck until the offices open back up.
Steve worked on the books for the Child Center this afternoon and I started packing. We got 2 suitcases packed and weighed; you know that I want to carry every pound that I am allowed! The other 2 suitcases are mostly packed up; they are not up to weight yet. I am not sure if we will have time to do any shopping when we go out but I like to have at least one suitcase that I can put extra things in because I never know what I might find that I cannot live without! Ha!
Divine called this afternoon to tell us that the chief of Wadiig’s son died. The chief is a church member and his son used to be a member but he fell away years ago. Divine was going to go to Wadiig and visit the chief; Steve told Divine that he wanted to send the chief some sympathy money too. Divine took the money to the chief; he was happy that we considered him. When Divine was telling us about the man that died, he said, “You know him, his name is Joel, he was a church member for a long time but he stopped and has not been coming for long; just because he is no more a member does not mean that we have forgotten him; we still know him! So, we must show respect to his father.”
Take care and enjoy your weekend!

Mom and Dad went to the lumber company this morning and bought the boards that they are going to use to make a ledge around the top of my condo. Once the ledge is in place I will have a place to sit and sleep and still be able to peep out over the canopy that they put in place to keep the neighborhood children from seeing and tormenting me! They dropped the canopy/ tarp down far enough that I have a good view of all the goings on outside the cement wall but no one can see my body! Once the 12-inch ledge is in place I will be able to sit and watch from every side of the condo. Did I tell you that the condo is octagon shaped?
I did not appreciate the men from Napachee coming into the compound this morning! I was doubly upset when they followed Mom up onto the veranda and sat down! I could hardly contain myself! I gave Mom every warning sign I knew; I jumped at the men and acted like I was a big bad monkey and that I was going to tear them limb from limb! I think they were afraid of me because it did not take them very long to leave!
If you want to scare someone away, stomp your feet; it works every time!
Love, Skeeter
