We were not as rushed this morning to get to our destination at Yawondo. The road to the village is about half mile down the road from Timothy Niligrini’s house. This meant Timothy didn’t have to drive in to the compound; we just picked Timothy up at 9am at his house. Brother Divine had spent the night at Timothy’s house so he also came along.
Our visit today was twofold. We wanted to worship with the small congregation and to meet with the family of Emmanuel, who has been an evangelist working with us for many years. He has begun to show signs/symptoms of Dementia. We had the opportunity to visit with the chief of the village before services. At that time we also discussed Emmanuel’s condition. The chief was very happy that we also were aware of Emmanuel’s mental confusion. While at the chief’s house there were some men selling some fresh catfish. Kandie and I bought some fish for Timothy and Divine. They were glad to have the fish.
Timothy interpreted the sermon for me as I taught a lesson about “Preparing to travel to Heaven”.
To explain my points I used simple examples that are common practices that a Ghanaian do when they travel. I compared dressing up to go somewhere to the Christian putting on the armor mentioned in Ephesians chapter 6.
After services the Church asked us to help them with four bags of cement and a wooden door to complete their building which we were able to do. We thank all of you that provide funds for evangelism.
We also had a meeting with Emmanuel’s wife and son along with Brother Samuel Agbeer who is one of the church leaders concerning Emmanuel’s condition after everyone had left. Emmanuel forgets how he spends his money and accuses others of taking it. We have implemented some changes that should help eliminate part of these problems.
A lady that had attended services this morning came to us saying she had just gotten word her brother had been killed this morning while riding a motorcycle. She asked if we would give her a ride to Yendi which we did.
After saying goodbye at Yawondo we drove over to Jegrido which is not more than a mile the way the crow fly to Daniel Niligrini’s house. Daniel is Timothy’s older brother. A male church member had received a snake bite last year during the seminar as he was traveling back to the village via a motorcycle. Our purpose today was to present this bother with some money to offset any costs that had occurred in his treatment. The brother was very happy with the money. After greeting his mother Timothy joined us in the pickup as we drove back to Kulkpeni and the compound.
Timothy wasn’t at church tonight because he had been called away. Brother Matthew asked me to speak and he interpreted for me. Matthew did quite well.
That wraps up the last Sunday in October for us. We hope you have had a good day and may God bless.
In His service,
Stephen and Kandie Taylor
