We spent almost the whole day in the little office attached to our bedroom working on the books.  We will not be here at the beginning of next year when the new minimum wage goes into effect.  We have to get all the raises and taxes figured so everything will be in place when the increases roll around.  Mr. Iddrisu usually helps figure the taxes but he has taken a couple days off to harvest his corn.  He will be back at work on Monday but Meri will not be here so he will have to work in the Child Center.  Steve and I got the taxes and Social Security figured but we do not know the magic formula for figuring the amount for IRS.  We usually send the paper work to the IRS office and pay them to figure it for us.  That way we will be sure that the amount is correct.  After supper we are going to work on each employee’s pay packet and get the raises written down on their time sheets.

We took a break this afternoon and took a load to the dump.  We cleaned out the paint shed and threw away all the turpentine containers as well as the metal paint buckets.  It is beyond me why they do not get thrown away as soon as they are empty.  I wonder if they are waiting to find a use for them; and paint brushes, really!  What can you do with a brush that has no bristles or one that all the bristles are stuck together?  We probably threw away a dozen useless brushes.  I tried to throw away a 5 gallon bucket that was ½ full of tile glue.  The glue had hardened to one massive cake in the bottom of the bucket.  There was no way we could get the lump out of the bucket.  Nazo would not let us throw it away.  I asked him if he was going to try and clean the bucket.  He said no he was going to use the glue.  Well, good luck on that one!

Daniel Batoln, one of the evangelists, called us last night about 10:00 and said that they were just leaving Yendi.  He said that when we dropped them off at the station after class the first bus was full and they had to wait for another bus.  Part of the reason the bus was full was because one of the passengers had bought 30 or 40 bicycles and the driver packed the top luggage rack full of bicycles so no passengers could ride on top of the bus.  One of the buses that came from his area in the wee hours of the morning on Thursday had been attacked by armed robbers and one of the people got shot.  Fortunately they did not die.  We try never to have to drive late in the night.  Steve called Daniel this morning to make sure they arrived home safely.  He said they got home at 1:00.  Be proud you have a private car!

Take care and have a great day.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
