Steve forgot to tell you that I caused a stir again yesterday at worship service. I had been eating a granola bar in the truck on the way to Jagrido. I did not really like it; it was some sort of peanut butter chip flavor; I prefer something with CHOCOLATE! Anyway I said all that to say that I put the unfinished portion in my purse. When I picked up my purse to get out my contribution money ants came pouring out of my purse climbing all over me, up my arms, around my neck and down my legs. Once again we were sitting in front of the audience. I was brushing, swatting and knocking the ants off. I tried to be discreet but how discreet can you be when ants are crawling all over you. I was lucky they were not stinging or biting ants or I would have had to vacate the building.
After worship service on Sunday Timothy invited us to come to his house and see the pots and pans that Rita had finally brought home. When someone marries it is the husband’s responsibility to buy pots and pans for his wife. It might takes years to gather all the pots, pans, serving dishes, eating dishes, cups, glasses, utensils, luggage, water containers, knives and other items the wife needs to cook. Timothy and Rita have been married for at least 8 years and Timothy has just now finished buying the things for Rita. He even had an “L” shaped desk type thing made for her to display the items on. It looked like a store and she had set the things up to sell. We took a picture of Rita and Timothy in front of the stuff. Timothy was not left out in all this; he got a short table and chairs and a new pair of shoes. Traditionally Timothy is supposed to enter the house; remove his shoes and sit at his table and wait for Rita to serve him. Traditionally men and women do not eat together; the man eats first and then the women and children eat.
We found out this morning that Meri, one of the ladies that works in the Child Center is pregnant. This will be number 5 for her. It would have been number 6 but she had a set of twins and one of them died. Every time she gets pregnant we worry because her oldest child has sickle cell disease and sickle cell disease is hereditary.
This morning before we went to the Child Center Mr. Iddrisu and I made up all the payroll packets for the month. We have decided that it makes things much easier if we make up each employee’s packet at the beginning of each month instead of each week. Some of the workers get paid by the week and others by the month.
We got 2 tenths of an inch of rain last night! It was wonderful! It has been cooler today. The high temperature today was 100 degrees. I know that still sounds hot but it is much cooler than 121 degrees. We were even able to catch a couple inches of water in the cistern. Everyone was happy that it rained and cooled things off.
Take care and have a great day.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
