We had to go to the market this morning. We were out of laundry soap. We use the laundry soap for everything from washing vehicles to scrubbing the floors to doing laundry to washing medicine bottles at the Child Center. We don’t have a lot of variety when it comes to cleaning supplies. When we buy the laundry soap, we buy a 50-pound bag which lasts a long time. We also needed liquid soap to wash the dishes in. We buy this from our neighbor, Mr. Oldman, daughter. After we went to the market we stopped by their shop but the only type of liquid soap she had was the one that smells like hospital disinfectant! Yuck! Not a fan! She said that she would make some for us and bring it to the house tomorrow. She is going to make the lemon flavored and the floral one that does not smell like any flower I have ever smelled but it is not offensive. We buy it by the gallon so you had better like the way it smells! Ha! She will bring us 3 gallons tomorrow.

Just as we were entering the market we were almost run over by a motor king driver that was carrying 2–100-pound bags of okra fresh from the farm. I told Steve that we had to chase the driver to find out who the owner was so we could buy fresh okra. He did not go far before he unloaded it. The owner of the okra was more than happy to sell to us. I was more excited about the okra than anything else we bought!

As we were trying to leave the market the lady that sells the locally made wax prints called me to see what she had. The fabric sort of looks like tie-dye. I told her that I did not need any more fabric but she insisted that I look; of course, I found a piece of purple that will make a gorgeous dress. I walked away from it but Steve went back and bought it. While he was paying for the purple piece the lady brought out one that was even prettier which was hot pink and turquoise; now I have 2 pieces of fabric. Lucky me! Fabric is my one weakness! Ha!

We have a calabash tree that we started from a cutting several years ago. It must not have a very good root system on it because it is trying to fall over. This morning we rigged up a series of ropes to tie it to the cement wall; if someone is not careful, they will hang themselves on the rope! That would surely pull the tree down! At least it is secure for the moment.

Take care and enjoy your long weekend.

P.S. Please pray for my brother; he fell and broke a few ribs. Ouch!

The Monkeyshines

Mom has decided that I need more protein in my diet! Really? Is she a dietitian? Parents just come up with these ideas and implement them! A while back she was on a kick that I needed more iron so she bought me the blood tonic that they give the malnourished children. I actually liked the blood tonic; then she decided that I needed probiotics so now I get probiotics; they are chewable gummies so I have no complaints about how they taste. I wonder what she thinks monkeys in the wild do? I am sure that no one is giving them blood tonic, probiotics and now extra protein. My extra protein comes in the form of meat; mostly chicken. I like it but I think it is totally unnecessary! After all, I still drink 3 bottles of formula mixed with cereal every day. That has to have something in it that is good for me! I wonder how long this protein kick will last?

Doctor Mom strikes again!
