It was another hot day today.  The high for today was 117 degrees.  We felt so sorry for the men that were working on top of the roof in the full sun today!  Can you imagine?  We lost track of how much water they drank.  The mason and his helpers will be coming tomorrow to start laying block.  Mr. Iddrisu and Nazo will help them while we are visiting one of the churches.  The masons and Mr. Iddrisu and Nazo are Muslims so Sunday is just another work day for them.  We will divide and conquer tomorrow.  Paul and Divine are visiting the church at Kpamang and Steve, Timothy and I will be going out to Binalado.

The roof is off the mission house and the house is full of dust, bird feathers, and who knows what else.  The roofer left the ceiling joist and ceiling tile intact but nothing is really sealed.  There is lots of light shining through from the years of leaks.  I have a horrible headache; I figure it is from all the dust.

We hired Mr. Iddrisu’s nephew and a couple of his friends to haul cement blocks today.  We bought the blocks from Red, our part time driver.  He had them molded for a building project that he put on hold.  He needed the money from the blocks more than he needed the blocks.  We were proud to be able to get the block without much hassle.

We also hired Nazo’s wife and daughter to help out this morning.  They got the corn and soybeans washed and they also got the medicine bottles washed for the Child Center.  We will roast the corn on Monday.  Speaking of Nazo’s daughter do you remember the last time we were here Nazo’s daughter had a baby and Nazo and his wife had never seen the baby.  Well, Nazo’s daughter finally was allowed to bring the baby to Yendi.  The baby is now 9 months old.  Can you imagine having your first grandchild living only 60 miles away and never seeing him until he was 9 months old?  We gave Azara baby clothes for the baby.  She was very happy to get them.

Steve is in town with the carpenter buying the lumber for the roof.  We have to get it brought out to the mission house so the men can put the wood treatment on it before the roofers start putting it on the roof.  We are still waiting on the tanker truck to bring us a load of water for the masons to use to mix mortar tomorrow.

The electricity was off all day today because the roofers were afraid they would get into a live wire and get electrocuted.  I think that is a good reason to cut off the power don’t you?

Take care and have a great day!

In His Service,

Steve, Kandie and Paul
