The immigrations officer called yesterday to let us know that our visas had been renewed and that our passports were ready to be picked up.   We were happy that they had finally been processed.  We wanted to go to Tamale this morning to pick them up but Zorash called and said that she was too sick to come to work so we waited until almost noon to leave for Tamale.  We were a bit worried because we could not find the original retention slip that they gave us several weeks ago.  Fortunately we had made several copies of the receipt.  They accepted the copy without hesitation.  I am not even sure they knew that it was a copy.  We can now stay in Ghana another year!

We took advantage of being in Tamale and went to the Bible house and bought Bibles in the Dagbani and Anufo languages as well as a case of English Bibles.  Our thanks go out to all of you who help us with evangelism.

We found a gas station that sells olives.  Who knew?  I know it is a strange place to buy groceries but some of the gas stations have a very good selection of imported food.  Last time we were in Tamale we bought some and they were delicious.

We also found a huge chemical seller.  He sells chemicals to spray the crops and fields.  Steve was happy when he found some paraquat to kill the weeds in the compound.  We were actually looking for the spray for the mango trees but we did not have the original container.  We will bring it with us when we go to Tamale next week to get the road worth sticker for the green truck.

We also picked up a used office chair.  A couple years ago we bought a new one and it was awful!  It was so cheaply made that after about a month it could no longer be adjusted.  Now it lurches to one side.  We decided to buy a used one in hopes that it will be stronger and last longer.

When we got back to Yendi this evening we stopped and picked up the formula and baby cereal that we ordered a couple days ago.

Divine called yesterday and said that 2 of the pigs we bought from him for the seminar were sick.  He called the vet and he said to cook Neem (Nim) seeds in water and give it to the pigs.  The Neem trees are very bitter; I can’t imagine the pigs drinking that of their own free will.  This morning he sent a message to let us know that one of the pigs died.  Please!  That is just our luck!  We were not meant to be farmers or ranchers.  I sent Divine a message back and told him that it was not my pig that died but his pig!  He thought that was very funny!  He said that he had lost 4 or 5 of his own pigs.  We told him that we might need to slaughter the pigs now so we would be sure to have meat for the seminar.  We would put the meat in the freezer.  The seminar is less than 2 months away.

Take care and have a great day!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
