We are back in Accra.  It seems like we were just here last week because we were!  At least this time we are not on the third floor!  This time we are on the second floor which is the first floor that has bedrooms.  The real first floor is office space.  The Martins had more flights of stairs to climb than we did; they were on the 4th floor and no, there is no elevator in this hotel / apartment.  We had a good flight; it was only a few minutes late.  It only took Emmanuel the driver a few minutes to get here after Steve called him to let him know that we had arrived.

We were hungry by the time we got settled into our room so we called the taxi driver that we normally use to see if he could drive us to a restaurant but he could not because he was not driving today, he had a function he was attending.  We went out on the street and hailed a taxi.  We wanted to try a new restaurant that we had seen online.  Steve was able to pull the restaurant directions up on his cell phone via Google Maps.  The app was able to tell the driver exactly how to get to the restaurant.  Isn’t that amazing?  The restaurant was in East Legon in the suburbs.  We did not see hardly any taxis on our way to the restaurant so we figured that when we finished eating, we were going to have a problem finding a taxi in that neighborhood so we hired the taxi driver to sit and wait for us to finish eating and then take us back to the hotel.  The driver took a nap while we ate.  No, that is a pretty good gig if you ask me!  Sleeping on the job and getting paid for it!  Sounds like our sleeping watchmen!  The restaurant was called Asian Noodle Garden.  They served a variety of noodle and rice dishes.  The things I was most interested in were the Kimchi (fermented cabbage) which was delicious and the Pho (Vietnamese soup dish).  I convinced Steve that he needed to try the hand pulled noodles; he also had Bok Choy and chicken with sesame seeds.  The meal was delicious but we were also very hungry.

Thank you for all the prayers!

The Monkeyshines

The thoughts of the beautiful wonderful day that I had yesterday were shattered by the neglect that I suffered today!  My little heart was so sad when I saw the parents load up in the blue van and leave the compound this morning.  Poor pitiful me!  I have a long lonely 2 months ahead of me!  You know someone said that dogs cannot tell time.  That they know their masters are gone but they do not know if they have been gone a few hours or a few days or a few months; I knew dogs were not as smart as monkeys but I find it very hard to believe that they are that dumb!  I knew that monkeys were smarter than dogs!  I know what time it is; I know when it is time to get up, time to eat, time to get out of my cage and time to go to sleep.  I know that my parents have abandoned me and that they are not coming back for a very long time and I am not happy about it ,not one little bit!

This will be the last “Monkeyshines” for a very long time!  Two months to be exact!

Pray that I am still alive when the parents get back; sometimes Donkey and Mr. Iddrisu forget to feed me, especially if there is a holiday and neither of them come to work.

Love, Skeeter
