The masons did not work today but 3 of the men wanted to make extra money so we hired them to pull blocks from Red’s house. They did not get an early start because the motor king’s bed needed to be welded. Red took it to his house and he got up early this morning and did the necessary repairs. The men loaded and offloaded 350 cement blocks today. They have 370 left to haul to the mission house. That will be another full day’s work.

Today was the monthly evangelists’ and church leaders’ class. I went out for a little while to help with the distribution. Today, the men that attended the class received a bicycle tire and tube as well as the shirt and die. Steve had forgotten to give out the tire and tubes last month and only remembered it late yesterday afternoon. We had to scramble around town to find enough tires and tubes. There are a couple grades of tires and Steve wants to give them the ones that will last the longest. Twenty-six men attended the class this month. Steve’s lesson was on sin and how to repent.

Steve also passed out the invitations to the seminar that will be taking place near the end of November. This is always an exciting time for the churches.

Zorash stopped by this morning to get reading glasses for some of the men that she does community service with. We bring in the cheap Dollar Tree reading glasses; the people who are having a difficult time reading really appreciate getting them. It is the little things that can make a big difference!

This evening after the block haulers went home, we had to go to town to buy more cement. Mr. Iddrisu told us that there was zero cement on the property. Yesterday morning we went to town at 7:00 to look for cement and drove all over Yendi before we found someone who was open and ready to do business! We did not want to have the same problem in the morning so we bought it this evening. While we were out, we stopped and bought electric units for the main house meter.

Thank you for all the love, support, and prayers! We appreciate you!

The Monkeyshines

When I nip Mom, she tattles on me! She says that she got a Skeeter bite which makes it sound like she got bitten by a mosquito but it was really me! This morning when she came to visit me in my condo and get me out for the day, I bit her; she picked up a stick and started trying to get me with her stick! I had to go to the top of the condo to get out of her way! Then she left me sitting in the condo all alone; I did not even get the treat that she brought to me! I was crying for her to come back but she just kept walking! I hated it! It was like being in time-out but in a bigger cage! It seemed like she waited for a very long time before she came back outside! I sure was happy to see her; as soon as she sat down, I started grooming her feet! That woman has some boats for feet! They are huge with long toes! Maybe she is the “missing link” between monkeys and humans!

I have discovered that the big mango tree has these round bumps; I am not sure if they are the beginnings of burls or if they are where the tree has healed itself after a small branch has been cut off or what but I love them. I like to peel the bark off of them and chew on them. I don’t know if there is any nutritional value in the bark and knots of a tree or not but I do enjoy them.

You are invited to dinner in my tree; I have lots of bark covered knots to chew on!

Love, Skeeter
