Solomon, the motorcycle mechanic, came out to the mission house this morning. He is the one that has been reworking Timothy Niligrini, the evangelist’s motorcycle. The part that we have been waiting on arrived. Solomon also had the opportunity to buy a new set of genuine Honda rings for the pistons. He wanted to make sure that we wanted to buy them and pack them down before he finalized the purchase. Of course, we wanted them but where to keep them, so we will know where they are is the problem. Steve marked them and hung them on the bulletin board in our bedroom so we can see them from time to time. Ha! We will see if that works! He also said that Timothy needed a new rear tire for the motorcycle too. With the addition of the new rear tire his motorcycle should keep running until next year.
The masons wore out the first pair of gloves that we gave them when they started the job and this morning, they asked for a new pair. Steve had anticipated the need for more gloves so he bought them while we were out buying cement. Oh! The perks that come from working for us! I would be more worried about getting a hat than a pair of gloves in this heat! The thunder heads formed late yesterday afternoon and we were hopeful that we would get some rain but it did not materialize. We could see in the distance the sheets of rain so someone got a shower.
Steve worked on the monthly report this morning and I got it edited. We will not send it out until next week but it is nice to know that we are actually ahead of schedule for something!
Donkey started cutting the tall grass in the back field and making a fire belt around the light poles; he will make one around the buildings too. We do not burn the fields but almost every year someone lights our fields on fire which is very annoying.
The US government has issued a new requirement for entering the United States because of the Ebola outbreak. Every passenger entering the United States has to fill out an attestation form to indicate whether or not they have traveled to the DR Congo. I guess it is to help with contract tracing. Personally, we think they should include Uganda in the mix. Can’t be too careful! You know Nigeria had her first case; and the way we understand it, it was someone who had spent several weeks in Uganda. But maybe she contracted it in the airport because Uganda has declared herself Ebola free. Scary stuff!
Take care and have a great weekend!

The Monkeyshines
I am “off my feed”! That is what the old folks used to say when an animal was not eating well. I have just not been hungry today; I do not know why but Mom is worried to death about me! I only ate 2 bottles today! I have lots of energy and have had no problem playing! Mom has offered me everything in the pantry but nothing tickled my taste buds!
Mom actually cut a switch today and this morning when she came inside the condo the switch came with her! She told me that if I tried to bite her, she was going to swat me. I did not like the look of that switch so I behaved myself very nicely! She did not have to use it and I climbed up in her lap and gave her monkey kisses! Really, I am sweet most of the time! I just get hyper when I get excited!
I figured out how to open the door to the “cool” room; it used to be a bedroom but the parents have converted it into a small dining room so if they want to they can eat and work in a room that has air conditioning. Mostly, they just use it when they have company. The handle is not a knob; it is a lever type handle. Today, I figured out that I can jump down on the lever and then push the door with all my might and it will open! What fun! Just inside the door is a bookcase that has lots and lots of tracks and books on it and on the top of the bookshelf is boxes and boxes of grape juice. Before the parents realized that I could open the door Dad got in trouble for leaving the door open when he came out! Surprise! Surprise! It was me! Before they figured out that it was me, I got one of the containers of grape juice; pulled the top off; knocked it on the floor and was sucking up grape juice about as fast as it was running out! Maybe that is why I did not want my evening bottle of milk!
Grape juice is being served in the main dining hall!
Love, Skeeter
