I took the computer down to the Child Center this morning so I could work on the receipts and books while we were looking at the babies. We did not really have much to do because the mothers were slow coming out today; it was a little bit chilly this morning and on cool morning the mothers do not bring their children out unless it is absolutely necessary.
Yesterday when Steve pumped the water up into the overhead tank, he noticed that the pump was leaking. This morning he called Mr. Adams, the guy that can fix almost anything. He came out to the mission house and dismantled the pump; he thought that it was going to be an easy fix but found out that the pump portion was rusted beyond repair. He jammed something against the shaft to get it running temporarily but he told us that we were going to have to buy a new pump. Fortunately, Steve was able to pump up enough water to fill the overhead tank. The water will last for several weeks. In a few days we will go to Tamale and see if we can find a new one. The pump has to be fairly large with good head pressure because we are pumping the water about 40 feet into the overhead tank. My dad built the tower tall so that every shower in the house would have enough pressure! Mr. Adams was going to reconnect the pump but we told him that there was no need to do that unless we could not find a new one in Tamale.
We went to town this afternoon to buy bananas and garlic. Well, we ended up buying green peppers, onions, cabbage, tomatoes, limes, okra and fried cheese in addition to the bananas and garlic.
The baby with the severe double hair lip that extended into his eyelids came to the Center. He is looking much better since his surgery. The mother said that they were supposed to go back to Tamale for a review every month but that they did not have the money to pay the transport so they had missed several appointments. Steve gave her the transport money and a little to buy food on the way. She was very grateful for the help. We are passing our thanks on to you for helping with the babies.
Have a great day!

I was sitting in Dad’s chair minding my own business when Dad came in to sit down; as he was sitting down, he tooted; it was a noisy stinky one! I was shocked! I could not figure out where that stench was coming from! I pulled up Dad’s shirt and smelled; Dad sat down and then I climbed up on his arm and smelled his arm! Then I climbed up and smelled his face! I never could figure out where the smell was coming from; it seemed to be everywhere! I decided that he must have messed himself and needed to have his diaper changed! That happens to me a lot! The parents were laughing but seriously it was no laughing matter! Did their parents not teach them that it is impolite to laugh when someone toots?
Mom looked at the bottle that Mr. Iddrisu and Donkey use to feed me and she saw that there was mold between the nipple and the top of the bottle and that the nipple was discolored. She tried to bleach the bottles but the black never went away! Amama even tried to clean them but she had no luck either! Mom was not happy! She took the dirty / stained bottle to Mr. Iddrisu and told him that he was going to have to do a better job of cleaning my bottles. She gave him 2 brand new bottles to feed me with. She is going to show the stained bottle to Donkey when he comes back to work tomorrow.
Nanny, Nanny, Boo-boo! Someone is in trouble and I am happy that it is not me this time!
Love, Skeeter
