We had another hot 117 degree day today. First thing this morning we took the green truck to the mechanic to see what is wrong with the clutch/gears. It is very difficult for me to get the truck to go into gear especially reverse. Steve does not seem to have as much trouble as I do but something is not right and it needs to be fixed. When we stopped by this afternoon to check on the truck the mechanic still had his head under the hood. I felt sorry for the mechanic. It was so hot today and he did not even have a shade tree to work under!

Today was the first Saturday of the month which means it is national clean up day. On the first Saturday of each month the government encourages everyone in every village to clean up the area near their house and work place. They also hire some people to sweep the streets and clean out the gutters. Yuk! Cleaning out gutters is job # 111 that I do not want! Can you imagine cleaning out open gutters with no gloves or boots? I guess someone has to do it but I sure am glad that it is not me!

We had to make 2 trips to town today to get flour. I needed the flour to make “chicken fingers” for supper. The first time we were in town the shop that runs the bread making machines was not open yet; the guys that run the shop have a pretty nice set up. They have an industrial bread mixer and an industrial kneading machine; they also sell flour. The ladies who bake bread buy the flour from the men and bring their own yeast, sugar, salt and oil. The bread is mixed on site and kneaded before the ladies put the bread dough into the flour sacks and haul it home to bake. Most of the ovens are either charcoal or wood. This shop has the freshest flour in town.

We talked to Divine, the evangelist, who is working on the dam project for Kpamang several times today. He is still hunting for extra money so the bulldozer driver can work on the dam one more day. The village got together and contributed money for fuel and my brother Paul donated enough to finish out the amount they will need for the extra day. Divine was very happy that everyone pitched in to help!

Timothy, the evangelist stopped by for a visit today. Timothy is also a tailor. He made some shirts for Paul. While he was here I gave him the material to make some reversible aprons. One side has a beautiful Ghanaian printed fabric and the other side is going to have a flour sack with the flour company logo on it.

Please keep us and the work in your prayers.

In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
