We did some scurrying around this morning to prepare for Paul’s friend Enoch’s, arrival. Enoch took the early bus from Tamale and was out standing at the gate about 7:10 am. Kandie fixed him breakfast and while he was finishing up Bro. Divine came by so Kandie fixed him some breakfast also. Divine was going into Yendi to see the contractor that has been helping coordinate the work on the dam.
It was a little after 9am when we left the house to pick up Timothy Niligrini for our visit at Nalongni. Our old pickup is in the shop so I drive the old van. Paul said he was going to drive his pickup that had air-conditioning so he and Enoch rode together and Kandie and I took the van.
The village of Nalongni is about 20 miles from the compound. When we arrived we had enough time to go visit the chief and give his some kola. They are having water problems as well in the village so he wanted me to know about it. The chiefs always share the village problems with the visitors in hopes of finding a solution. It is sort of like the saying “It doesn’t hurt to ask” back home. Who knows, some visitor might have a solution to the problem.
Today was a joint service of the congregations of Nalongni and Sobgatito. Paul taught the bible class and Enoch gave the sermon. There were a total of 78 people present. After services were over there was a short question and answer period. Then before we left the village they asked us to go to a widow’s house to pray for her. The woman was married to one of the oldest men of the Konkomba tribe around here. We prayed for her and I gave her some sympathy money for her husband death. She was quite pleased with the gift.
After lunch we rested for an hour and a half before going out to Kpamang to see the dam project. Today will be the last day. Now all we have to wait for is the rain to see how well the earthen dam works.
It will not be long before we head out to Kulkpeni for bible study. They are going to try to start meeting at 6pm instead of 8:30 pm.
Please don’t forget to look up the new web page for the work. The web address is www.ghanamissionfund.org You can also sign up to get the Yendi Notes on this website.
Thank you again for your prayers and your financial support. We really appreciate it. Have a great Lord’s Day!
In His service,
