We found a possible source for the water proofing sealing paint that we were unable to find the last 2 times we were in Tamale. We took the can to the local hardware store in Yendi so we could show the owner exactly what we were looking for. Mr. Gatto, the owner, said that he had never seen the sealing paint before but he would call the warehouse in Tamale that he gets his supplies from and see if they had any. He actually had his daughter call. We were pleasantly surprised when they said they had it. We ordered 20 gallons of the sealer. Steve is a little bit afraid that when it comes in on Monday it will not be the same stuff but Mr. Gatto’s daughter read the name on the can and even described the color of the container to the guy she was ordering it from so hopefully we have found a source for it.
Divine, the evangelist, came back from Tamale around noon. He had a successful trip and had some copies he wanted us to make for him. We could not make the copies on our copier because our copier will not copy the size he needed. We told him that we would have to take them to town and get copies made. He will pick them up next time he is in Yendi.
Steve and Zorash had to work the Child Center by themselves this morning because Meri and I were washing and sanitizing medicine bottles. We encourage the mothers to bring back their medicine bottles so we can re-use them. Most of the time they forget to bring the bottles. It is difficult to bring bottles and carry a child.
We give the mothers of the malnourished children dried cow peas which are sort of like black-eyed peas but smaller. The dried peas help give the children the protein they need. Last time Mr. Iddrisu bought cow peas he bought about 100 pounds. It takes a long time for us to use that many peas. The bugs had gotten into the peas so we spread the peas out on a tarp in the hot sun. It did not take very long before the bugs started dying. We will put them out again tomorrow to kill the bug eggs. The temperatures are creeping up again. The high today was 115 degrees. No wonder the bugs died.
When Steve talked to Timothy this afternoon he was headed to his home village of Jagrido to help bury an old man that died in his village. Timothy is related to most of the people in Jagrido.
Take care and have a great day.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
