Meri didn’t come to work this morning. She called Mr. Iddrisu and told him her oldest son Aliu was having chest pains so she was taking him to the Yendi Hospital. Aliu has Sickle Cell disease; I’m sure that is why he was not feeling well and needed to go for treatment.
There were mothers coming to the child center most of the morning. One of the babies that has a hair lip/cleft pallet was brought by his mother for a regular visit. He is getting to be a little chunk. She had him dressed up to come this morning with a little hat secured with a safety pin. He’s a happy fellow! On a sad note we had a little boy brought by his mother who has a malformed right lower leg. The ankle and foot bones seem to be missing and his left leg isn’t strong either. The last time this mother came to the Center we encouraged her to seek help for the child. From what we gathered this morning she had not done anything toward that so I decided to write a letter of introduction to the local Social Development officer here in Yendi for the mother to use when she meets the man. We hope she will visit him soon.
After eating lunch Mr. Iddrisu accompanied me to distribute the gifts to the police and military. The officer at the police station was very kind and appreciative of the gifts. From the police station we went over to the military barracks. The officer in charge accepted the gifts for the military captain who is in charge of the barracks. When the lower ranked officer telephoned the captain about the gift the captain in turn asked if we could wait 10 minutes so he could talk with us. Captain Osei was very cordial and we talked for about ten minutes. He also thanked us for our gift saying “it is nice to know we are appreciated”. We left the barracks for the immigration office but we were not able to meet anyone there so that will be for another day.
Kandie has been working on the receipts again this afternoon. It seems that is a job that goes on forever. I am lucky to have her doing that job for us. The sun felt hotter today. At one point the humidity was at 41% which made 111 degrees feel much hotter.
Hope you all have a good day. Please keep us in your prayers.
In His service,
Stephen and Kandie Taylor
