We got a good rain last night! Praise the Lord! It was wonderful! In the middle of the night the temperature dropped to 71 degrees. The only problem was that the electricity was off all night; not exactly sure why. As soon as we woke up this morning I told Steve that after our walk we had to get in the kitchen and turn the shea butter into diaper rash ointment. We knew this would probably be the coolest day we were going to have in a while. Standing in that hot kitchen over a hot stove makes it seem hotter in the house than it really is. We made 560 containers of diaper rash ointment this morning. We had to wait for it to set up before we could put the tops on it and pack it in cardboard boxes.
Shortly after it started to rain last night I remembered that we had left the dried cow peas out in the yard on a tarp to kill the rest of the bugs. We quickly put on our shoes and drug the tarp into the house and spread the beans out under the fan. It does not take long for them to start to swell up. They are almost completely dried out today.
We went to town this afternoon to buy more credit for the electricity for the mission house. We now have prepaid meters on both the main house and the Child Center. We love paying in advance and not having to fight with the electric company about our bill. While we were in town we ran into Red and had him come to the mission house and measure a couple doors. We want him to make metal doors for both the Bible house and the well pump house. The termites are terrible and they eat up the doors and the frames. He is also going to make 2 metal windows for the well house. He might not actually make the doors and windows, he might have some of the guys at his welding shop make them.
We stopped by the market and picked up the flour sacks that I had ordered from one of the old tailors. He is one of the men that make the traditional smocks that the men in this area love to wear. He uses the flour sacks to line the smocks. The smock is called a “Fugu”.
It is almost time for Friday evening Bible Study so I will close for now. Have a great day and keep us in your prayers.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
