We only have 2 more days left in Yendi so we were rushing around like chickens with our heads cut off today! We got a bunch of things marked off “the list”!

Steve went to town first thing this morning to buy electricity units for both the mission house and the Child Center. While he was out he stopped by the tax office to see if they had made any headway crediting the Child Center account with December’s taxes. They said that they could not begin processing the request until Steve wrote them a letter. Really, you made the mistake and did not credit the payment to our account and now we have to write a letter asking you to fix the mistake that you made! How crazy is that? As soon as Steve got back from town he sat down and wrote them a letter and took it back up to them before we ate lunch. They said that once they get the letter, they can begin the process of crediting the account and removing the penalty money.

We had a hot bright sunshiny day which was perfect for washing the sheets and bedding. It did not take long for even the heaviest comforter to dry! We wanted to get all the washing done so Steve can pump the water up into the overhead poly tank one more time before we leave.

Zorash stopped by for a visit this morning. We had forgotten to give her the antacids that we had the Clarks bring in for her and Mr. Iddrisu. The antacids that they have here in Ghana are liquid which neither of them like. We also needed to give her some extra money so she can call us while we are in the states in case a problem comes up on a baby who needs surgery or special attention.

We got the small refrigerator cleaned out; we do not leave it running while we are gone. It is mostly for overflow, cokes and water for our guests. It is customary here that you offer water to everyone that comes to visit. Of course, getting cold water is a bonus!

Donkey spent the morning spraying herbicide around the compound and on the lane leading to the back side of the property. They call it weedicide. Donkey says that the Celebrex seems to be helping his back. At least now he can get up out of bed without assistance. He still walks with a bit of a limp and he can’t stand for very long. It is a blessing that squatting is the proper thing to do when you are meeting and greeting someone.

Take care and thank you for all you do! We really appreciate you!

The Monkeyshines

I refused to come down out of the top of my condo last night so I did not get my last bottle of the day; I had to sleep hungry! Let me tell you I was ready for that bottle this morning!

I was in the house helping Mom get everything in the refrigerator moved to the freezer. The freezer is a small one and it sits right beside the door that I sit on when I am in the house. At one point Mom went away and forgot to shut the top of the freezer. Well, I jumped down into the freezer to see what all those plastic bags were about and I found bags of my frozen food. When she came back, I had a whole bag of food in my hands and I was using my teeth to bite holes in the bag so I could get out the frozen grapes. I just knew that I was going to be in trouble and that she was going to take the bag away from me; imagine my surprise when she helped me open the bag and get the grapes! She can be kind when she wants to be!

Dad trimmed some of the branches off one of the cashew trees this morning and he put them in my new condo. Oh! What fun I had jumping and romping in those leaves. They taste good too! After I had eaten my fill. I started playing with a rubber ball that the parents brought me from their last trip to Tamale. I love that ball! The ball is the size of a soccer ball and it is really too big for me but I have figured out how to throw it. It was so exciting when the ball landed in the leaves!

Maybe I will drink a bottle tonight and maybe I won’t!

Love, Skeeter
