We visited the village of Niliyundo this morning. The village is located south of Yendi in the Nanumba District. After turning off of the Bimbilla Road the village is approximately 8 miles off into the bush. Yesterday I bought 6 bags of cement to take out to this village to help the congregation finish the inside of their church building.
When we arrived in the village there was plenty of time to visit the chief. While we were at the chief’s house another small group of men from the Bincheratanga Health Clinic was also present. They were in the village to encourage the men to send the women and teenage girls to the clinic on a monthly basis to get a monthly supply of folic acid and iron supplement. The church service started a little later so the church members could listen to what the clinic workers had to say.
Worship service was held in the church building which is a good thing you might think but due to the later start the sun was doing a number on the iron sheets on the roof. Because it was so hot in the building I cut the lesson short. I taught a lesson from John 14:1-7. These are the passages of Jesus telling His disciples that He was going back to heaven to prepare a place for them. Kandie and I were sweating like we were in a Sauna Bath. There was very little air circulating in the room.
Timothy Niligrini interpreted for me during the lesson and the question and answer period. One of the reasons we decided to visit the congregation was to see how many bags of cement the mason actually needed to finish plastering the inside walls and redoing the floor. I decided to leave more money with the congregation to get a few more bags of cement so they could complete the job.
Before leaving the village the church presented us with some new yams and a game hen which we later gave to Timothy. The brethren also thank us for the cement and the money we left to match with their sand and mason workmanship.
Tonight at Kulkpeni I was asked to speak so Timothy interpreted for me as usual. Sarah, Timothy’s little 2 y.o. daughter was giving him fits half way into my talk. Small kids are allowed to wander around in the building. There were several times I lost my train of thought but we finally got through it.
That’s it for today. Keep us in your prayers. May God bless!
In His service,
Stephen and Kandie Taylor
