The majority of today was spent traveling to and from Tamale. I tried to enlist the help of Timothy Niligrini to ride with me but he already had plans to go to his farm in Jegrido to harvest some of his yams. I told him yesterday that it was more important for him get that farming done. After getting back to the house I asked Nazo to go with me and he said he would.
We left the house around 8am and I told Nazo as we were driving through Yendi that I didn’t want to pickup any riders but that plan didn’t last long. As we were driving through the last police barrier an officer asked if a lady and another officer could accompany us to Tamale and of course I said yes.
Originally, I was only planning to pick up a form from our auditor and take it to the bank to update our documents. Then I realized I needed to drop by our lawyer’s office to talk over a matter with him. He a nice guy and we usually talk 15-20 minutes about our families and the work. Nazo held down the pickup with the a/c on while I was in the bank and the lawyer’s office. The temperature was 108ºF again today.
On our way back I stopped and bought two loaves for Nazo and Iddrisu to give to their families. It’s a custom to buy bread to take home when you travel. I also purchased diesel and some groceries at a gas station on the edge of town. I am trying to keep some canned goods in place so I can fix my meals with little preparation since I presently have no good cook with me right now.
We got back to Yendi around 1:30pm so Nazo and I stopped at the fast food restaurant and bought our lunch.
Red, the part-time driver came by tonight to get his temporary driver’s license out of the van. He leaves it in the van so he knows where to find it when he needs it (figure that one out) . He is going to check in Tamale to see if his new license has come in. He had also brought a load of fill gravel yesterday to the compound so I needed to pay him. I plan to use the gravel to fill a new concrete base for a new reserve water tank.
I don’t have a lot more to tell you so I will close for today. Have a good day!
In His service,
Stephen Taylor
