One of the hair-lipped babies that had the repair surgery earlier this year has gone back for the second part of the surgery. This time they are going to fix the baby’s cleft pallet. The mother is not nearly as excited about this surgery as she was the hair-lip repair but in the long run it will be better for the baby. If it is not fixed, not only will his eating be affected but also his speech.
First thing this morning Mr. Iddrisu and Steve went to town to order the canopies and chairs for the seminar. While they were out they went to the city water company to see why they keep sending us bill stamped “out for disconnection”. We have not used any city water for the past 5 months. Well come to find out their billing schedule is that far behind and our payments had not yet appeared on the bill. Please! If you can’t give a current bill you should not threaten to disconnect the service. They also stopped by the electric company. Some of the trees on the back part of the mission property are getting in the power lines. Steve wanted them to be aware of the problem. They sent someone out this evening to trim them.
The electricity was off for several hours this morning which made for a miserable time in the Child Center. It is amazing the difference a ceiling fan makes. Most of the babies that come to the Center love watching the fan.
This afternoon we gathered the supplies we are going to need tomorrow when we go to Kulkpeni for a “work day.” Speaking of electricity going off, ours just went off. I am trying to type by flashlight. It is a good thing I can really type and do not hunt and peck or there would be no telling what this email might say!
The truck and motor king are loaded with sand, cement, metal poles, roofing sheets, water, paint, brushes, hammers, nails, screws, ladders, electric tools and everything else we thought we might possible need. There are a lot of odd jobs that need to be done before the seminar. Sure hope that some of the church members turn up to help.
Take care and have a great day!
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
