Well, I guess it’s my turn to write the Yendi Notes. I am Taylor Holladay, oldest grandson of Stephen and Kandie Taylor, oldest son of Marcus and Charity Holladay, and supposedly a nephew to a monkey. Let me go ahead and tell y’all, this monkey is the equivalent of a live grenade on a leash. I got the bruises to prove it. Other than that, though, he’s sweet. Greedy, but sweet. As long as you don’t look him in the eyes.
The trip so far has gone well. No problems or major hiccups, just lots of flying and lots of driving. Speaking of driving, the roads should win an award for just how bad they are. Imagine driving down some old gravel country road but instead of it being a back country road, it’s a major highway; instead of gravel, the road is full of potholes, and you are stuck driving this road for 8 hours straight. Not a pretty picture, I know.
As far as today’s activities are concerned, the day started off by driving on said pothole, riddled highway. We were on our way to Mole so we could go on a safari and spend the night, before heading back to the mission house. On the way, we made a stop to the cultural center, aka the place where they upcharge you for everything. No joke, we went to two different stores that were owned by the same guy and he gave us two different prices for the same item. Obviously, he has never met Kandie. At one point, we stopped to watch some of the women weave fabric. Apparently, according to mom, one of the women was eyeing me up. Now I did not see this but it didn’t matter because a few moments later, the woman said she wanted to marry me. I told her that I could not and that I would not but she pressed on, to which I told her “No” a few more times before walking away. After buying some things we then left and headed to Mole.
On the way, we had to make a few pitstops out into the bush to do our “business’ before continuing on. Parker and I joked that we felt “Connected to nature”. I am only writing about this part of the trip because mom said she would include it if I didn’t, so I’m beating her to the punch. After making it to Mole, we ate, went on a safari, and came back to our rooms. After I finish this letter, I hope to sleep enough to survive the day tomorrow. We have another safari tomorrow before we head back, so hopefully we will see some elephants.
In His service,
Taylor, Parker, Charity, Kandie, and Stephen
