The reason we didn’t write a Yendi Notes yesterday was because the mission house was filled with water last night. We have been here in Yendi since 2001 and we can’t remember it ever raining here anywhere close to Independence Day (6th March). The ceiling in the house is ¼ inch plywood and most all of it is ruin. Oh, well, we are not going to pray for it not to rain because water is so precious around here. The roofer says it is going to be another couple of days before he starts putting the roofing sheets on so we have temporarily moved out to the guest round house where we are dry and the A/C works.
This morning we visited the small group of Christians at Kulkpanga. Kandie and I were running late trying to get as much of the water off the floors as we could. Of course, Timothy Niligrini showed up early so he had to wait 15 minutes for me to get ready to leave. Kulkpanga is north of us and is between Yendi and Kpamang, where Brother Divine lives. We were relieved to find out when we arrived the brethren had a funeral they attended earlier in the morning. We ended up waiting a little while for everyone to show up. The Church is composed of 3 men and 2 women along with a few children. This group of brethren is of the Dagomba tribe so one of the brothers interpreted for me even though Timothy speaks very good Dagboni which is the language of this tribe. I used the story of Hannah for my lesson. I thought the lesson would be good for the children as well as the adults. There were a few stray village children passing though and stayed to listen to the lesson.
Some of the afternoon was spent napping. Both of you was worn out cleaning up all the water. Later we went into town to purchase more sheets of plastic to cover some book cases in our bedroom. Usually after a rain we get a few days of clear weather but thunderheads were forming again as we drove out to Kulkpeni. My lesson at Kulkpeni tonight was one of encouragement. There were some good questions and comments made after the short lesson.
We want to thank you for your support of the work. It is much appreciated. Have a good day and we hope you catch up on the hour sleep you lost last night!
In His service,
Stephen and Kandie Taylor
