Kandie and I were on our way to the airport in Tamale this morning at 6:30 to fly to Accra. I was able to get a dentist appointment for 4:00 pm this afternoon. We had a nice flight. When we arrived at the airport Brother Divine telephoned saying he was going to Tamale tomorrow to take his drivers license test. We had forgotten to leave the money with Iddrisu.
After arriving at the hotel we walked down the street to the Forex where we change money. Then we stopped by an MTN mobile money kiosk to send the cash to Divine. The way this mobile money works is: You give the dealer the phone number that has been registered for the service like in this case, Brother Divine. The dealer will verify the name registered to this number make sure it is the right person. Then the dealer collects the money and types in the amount on a cell phone reserved for this service. The sender pays a percentage fee to send the money. It was just a matter of one or two minutes until Divine called to say he had received a notification that the money had been sent. He then can go to any MTN office and collect the money. It is like sending money Western Union and it is safer than carrying money on your person.
We stopped to have lunch at a small nearby bakery/restaurant on our walk back toward the hotel. After our meal we came back and took a nap.
The dentist office we went to is just up the street two blocks. It is a nice, modern dental office. They had their own up-to-date x-ray machine. I always said I would not go to a dentist here in Ghana. (You would think I would learn never to say never!) I was impressed with their facility and professionalism. The dentist said my gums are receding around my teeth causing the pain. The dentist was able to repair the problem. No more discomfort!
That is it for today. Hope you have a good day.
In His service,
Stephen and Kandie Taylor
