We are in Tamale. We had to come over to get the road worthy sticker for the green truck. Please! Give me strength! They always find something wrong so they can charge us extra. Today the head lights were not lined up with each other, they did not like our fire extinguisher, they made us buy a new one, the license plate in the front was cracked so Steve just had them make new ones for both the front and the back. These are the original license plates that were purchased with the truck when it was new over 20 years ago. In Ghana you do not get new license plates unless you contract with the motor vehicle office to make them for you. Your number never changes. The man’s office is a shipping container; he has the blank plates and a series of number and letters. He also has a stamping machine and a paint machine with a rubber roller that paints the letters after they are stamped. It did not take him very long to make the license plates. This is the same place Divine had to come to take his test for his driver’s license.
This morning Steve called the dentist office in Tamale to see if they would take a look at his tooth but the dentist was not around and the receptionist could not give any assurance as to when he would be back in the office. We decided to fly down to Accra and go to the dentist that is a couple blocks away from the hotel. Steve is tired of putting up with the tooth ache. Steve called the office in Accra and they will be able to see him tomorrow at 4:00pm. We will fly down in the morning. We will spend a couple days to make sure that the dentist has enough time to do whatever needs to be done. This dentist office has their own x-ray machine! How about that?
This afternoon we bought the spray for the mango trees. Osman tried a new spray Saturday and Sunday morning some of the bushes had lost most of their leaves which is not a good thing. Osmon came back out and said that he thought that it was a problem of “over dosing”! He is going to reduce the amount of spray he uses next time.
Take care and say a prayer for our safety while we travel.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
