The old green pickup became a Jon-boat for our trip to Mpeasam today.  The village is about as far as we go south of Yendi. We get there by traveling the Bimbilla Road and then turning right about 12 miles to the village of Nakpa where we turn again and go several miles to get to Mpeasam.  The pickup’s first big hurdle was to go through some water just south of Bincheratanga.  We got out of the truck to mull over the ideas of either going on or turning back. I had just made up my mind to turn back when I saw a SUV type vehicle coming to cross the area in question. We all watched to see if the vehicle would make it or get stuck.  It went through without any problems so we loaded ourselves (that would be Kandie, Timothy Niligrini and myself) back in the truck, put it in four wheel drive and took off.  We were happy to make it across without incident. We crossed water 10 times going and coming today.

We had left the house about 7:30 this morning but because of the road construction and the water we didn’t arrive at the village until 10am.  The congregation was already singing.  Brother Moses and Brother Stephen met us at the pickup. I asked if there was a subject they would like for us to preach.  They asked if we would talk about the Holy Spirit and miraculous gifts. That was fine with me!  The reason for their request was because the new denomination that came in to the village told the church members they have no spirit because they don’t have spiritual gifts like speaking in tongues. I drew my lesson from 1 Corinthians 13 and 14 which help to shed light on this subject.

After services we had some good questions. The people in this area believe if two men are simultaneously having an affair with the same woman and the two men happen to meet each other one of them will die.  One of the young men asked if this belief was true? Preachers are always put in the hot seat!

The front wall of the congregation’s mud ball church building had fallen this rainy season.  We asked what their plans were to repair it.  They have enough local sand around the village to do the job so we gave them enough money to buy the cement needed to repair the building. The congregation was very pleased with the gift.  Later when we went to see the chief they showed him the money. The chief thanked us for the assistance.  We thank all of you for your generosity so we can help the local congregations.

Everyone gathered outside the building for a photo session after the questions were finished.  Brother Moses then took the three of us to his house for a meal of fufu and light soup which was very good!

Just before we left the village the brethren presented us with some yams and a rooster.  It was a very kind gesture.  We had one rider that traveled back to Yendi with us. We made a little bit better time coming back since we knew where we had to drive to keep from getting stuck in the water holes.  Kandie made some video of the places we had to drive through.  We gave the rooster and the majority of the yams to Timothy. When we arrived the wife of Ibrahim the leper was waiting under the mango as well as Brother Divine and the chief from Kpamang.   The lady asked for a job but we didn’t have one to give her.  The Kpamang chief brought us some yams for helping the village get their dam built this past dry season.

Our friend Red also came this afternoon to repair the four wheeled cart.  A set of new bearings helped to solve that problem.

That just about wraps it up for today.  We wish you a great Lord’s Day and may God bless!

In his service,

Stephen and Kandie Taylor
