We left for Kpamang this morning at 6:30.  Tichak, the watchman who attends church at Kulkpeni, when with us.  Last night Steve gave Tichak some money so he could buy something for breakfast before we left for the village.  We knew the village would not have any precooked food.  Divine got up earlier than we did this morning.  He had already killed the pigs by the time we got there at 7:00.  The men started a fire and set a big pot of water on it to boil.  After the water got hot they scalded the pigs to remove the hair.  They worked up 5 pigs this morning.  I took lots of video but I am not really sure who will want to see the process even though we found it very interesting.  After the meat was cut into quarters we loaded it in plastic containers and brought it back to the mission house.  We washed and bagged it then put it in the freezer.  Over the past few days we have been freezing bags of water.  We layered the meat in the freezer between frozen water bags to help cool it down quicker.  It will still take several days to freeze the meat solid.  We could have used a few more men to help with the butchering process but Timothy, Matthew and the other men already had other plans for this morning.  Some were going to a naming ceremony and the others were going to the chief’s funeral in Saboba.  We finished around 1:00 this afternoon.

Mr. Iddrisu came to work this morning but had to leave because he was not feeling well.  We did not see him so we do not know what is going on.  We got our information second hand through Nazo.

Last night at 11:30 Steve got a call from Mr. Oldman our neighbor.  We had already gone to bed and were sleeping soundly when he called.  Steve knew that it must be serious for him to call so late.  Mr. Oldman’s neighbor was sick.  He is an old man: he has a son but his son was out of town.  Mr. Oldman said the man was too sick to ride on the back of a motorcycle and asked Steve if he would come pick him up and take him to the hospital.  Steve was happy to help even though he doubted there would be any doctors at the hospital.  Steve talked to Mr. Oldman this afternoon and he said that they sent him home at 3:00 am and told him to come back later in the morning so the staff would be there and he could be admitted.  Imagine that!  Of course we still don’t know what is wrong with the man.

Thank you for your help with the work.  We really appreciate all you do!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
