Last night Charity called to tell us that she was in the emergency room with our grandson Parker.  Parker is in 1st grade.  Parker broke his clavicle (I think that is his collar bone).  He will be wearing a sling for the next 4 weeks.  Parker and his sister Faith were running around in the back yard and ran into each other.  Isn’t it strange how accidents happen?  It is times like this that make us wish we were not so far away from home!  We talked to Charity today and she said that Parker rested well last night.

The church at Garankuga sent someone this afternoon to organize the transportation for the podium we had made for them a couple weeks ago.  They put the podium on the top of a market truck.  I am always amazed that this stuff they send actually get to the person it is being sent to.  Of course in this case a large grey metal podium would be hard to confuse with the other stuff that is being sent.

Alhassan, the social welfare guy called today and said that the 8 year old girl who had been severely burned on her buttock and upper legs was being discharged from the hospital.  She was sent to Accra for the reconstructive surgery.  They are still looking for part of the money that is needed to pay the hospital bill.  Thanks to your generous donations we are going to send another gift to help with the cost.  She will have to go back to the hospital every 4 or 5 days to get the bandages changed.

This afternoon we went to town and bought some firewood to take to Divine’s village in the morning to use to singe the hair off the pigs after they are slaughtered.  We also got all the knives sharpened.  Steve had to put new handles in 2 of the knives.  The knives take a lot of abuse because they are used to hack through the bones and open the skulls.  We are going to take a machete for the hacking tomorrow.

David, one of the guys that work with the social welfare department told us that he has a new baby and they are going to have the naming ceremony on Monday.  We will not be attending the ceremony but someone has given us really nice baby clothes which we will re-gift to the new baby!

It is almost time for Friday evening Bible study.  Have a great day!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
